Natural hair care help-- conditioners

R C, on January 6, 2022 at 12:51 PM Posted in Hair and Makeup 0 2
Hello all! I've been doing my own hair for over six years now. It started with cutting my own hair, and then a couple years later I switched to only natural shampoos. I used baking soda for two years before the pH balance messed with my hair health too much and a year ago I switched to baking cocoa and corn starch as my shampoo-- way gentler on hair. I'm still growing the baking soda damaged hair out and so the ends are always getting split and everything. Right now I'm overdue for a haircut, which will help, but I also haven't used conditioner for three or more years because the commercial stuff would weigh down my hair and everything. I haven't taken the time to look for a natural conditioner, really. I've tried straight coconut oil masks every few months but that doesn't really work unless you're regular about it, plus the coconut oil takes two showers to wash out. So not great.
I'm looking for some sort of natural conditioner that's a mix of two or more things that promotes hair strengthening, shine, and growth while retarding breakage. I would prefer something that I make myself, and it has to be Curly Girl compliant bc I've found that extra chemicals in my hair do me no favors, not that I have curly hair Smiley xd Does anyone have a magic recipe, or even a natural curly girl compliant product that I could get?

If you have a reddit account, there is the curlyhair subreddit with a lot of information and testimonials from those with curly hair and follow curly girl methods

There’s something called a “curly cut”

If you go to a salon where stylists are trained in curly cuts, they cut your hair while it’s dry togo with your natural wave and then they wash it at the end.
The products that I use are from R&Co. they’re not products that contain 2 or 3 Ingredients but they do not contain sulfates or sodium. A lot of sulfate free Shampoo’s contain sodium which is not good! good luck!
