Necessary or Not: Ceremony Programs?

Definitely necessary since we are doing a very religious ceremony with a full mass and lots of audience participation required. It would be awfully rude of us to not give our guests the prayers and responses we are asking them to say or the hymns we are asking them to sing. But they will be really simple and inexpensive - just using the template the church uses for Christmas, Easter, Palm Sunday, etc when we have lots of visitors - or the Sundays when we only have one service for whatever reason cause there arent enough prayer books for everyone from all 3 services to use at once and most people will come (especially annual meeting week). They are just a very simplified version of the service with all the options taken out and just what was chosen that week left in. And the congregation's parts in bold to make it easier to read along.

I will not have programs either. I feel that you know what you're here for and they end up being left on the seats.

I wasn’t planning on a program at all. BUT now Fiancée wants everyone to sing Amazing Grace-
so we were thinking of printing out the words - so do I just do lyrics or do we do a 1 pager program??!? Help!!

I'm not doing them for my wedding. I feel like most people know how weddings work and the times are on the invites. Luckily for me, everyone we invited to the reception is coming to the ceremony so hopefully that will help with any confusion and changes n location.

Not necessary. I don't think I've ever had a ceremony program. For the most part, pretty much everyone knows how it's going to go. Besides, the officiant usually tells you anyway during the ceremony. I suppose if you have guests who are hard of hearing, it might be nice for them but honestly, I think the programs will just end up being thrown away.

Hi Melissa, We decided to do programs for similar reason- we would like everyone to sing Amazing Grace at one point in our ceremony. So we wanted everyone to have the lyrics. $5 to print? How did you manage that? I’m looking at have my match my initiations and its almost $2 each.

    Thanks! Congrats

I ordered the template on Etsy, edited it myself, and ordered through the office depot website. I put them on plain, white cardstock, 2 per page, front and back. I have a paper cutter at home, so I didn't have to pay for cutting or folding. Had a discount code too, so all in all it was about $5 to have them printed.

We are having our wedding in North Carolina on a summer evening on a golf course. We won't be having traditional programs, however, we think our guests would appreciate a way to cool off. We will do something like these most likely.

Nah, not at all necessary. I feel like it is just a waste of paper and money.

Not. I did them though because I had an outdoor ceremony so it was a good thing for people to use as shade and fans

We will likely have them; we are having a mildly religious ceremony with speakers, a singer, and scriptures being read.

Not necessary, to be honest. The only people that really need to know the flow of the wedding are members of the wedding party, Via the rehearsal.

Hi everyone encountering the upcoming or already here happy nuptial day...yes feel to have a ceremony guide is important...it will be a great guide for me...I am a late bird so many will joke at me but will honestly add more stress because time is not my thing...no matter what I do I am late one way or another...so I will be stressing more of trying to get to park on time...Majority of my family rush and find it normal to get on time, if I rush I hurt myself or damage something along the way...so to have a ceremony guide is a "must" to have something to go by...

We didn't do them. I didn't see the point in paying to print something that will be thrown away in addition to invitations.
