What do you think? Are engagement pictures necessary or not?

They're not necessary. We had a photoshoot the day we eloped and since it was a secret it ended up looking like an engagement photoshoot.

I don't think they're that important, at least not to us. We are having one done, mostly because we're thinking of having it as part of our actual wedding invitation

My FH has a photographer at our engagement and the more we talked about doing an engagement session, we thought it was unnecessary. Fortunately, we talked to our photographer and he added an hour of photography to our wedding day instead of an engagement session. This will help loads with our timeline for the day-of!

Plus, you've already got pictures from the engagement that you could use as backgrounds for save the dates or invitations, which is one of the main reasons people take e-pics.

Not at all! You will have enough at the wedding and reception and for the rest of your lives for that matter!

Not a necessity, but still very important for us! We wanted them to display around our house, we made an engagement book for our families, and we used one for our STD!

    Absolutely necessary for us.

We had one engagement photoshoot, but at 2 different locations and 3 outfit changes at each location (so more like 2 engagement photoshoots). We did not have a lot of great quality photos before and wanted to have enough for the wedding website and some to include on the tables at the wedding reception.

Also, we found an amazing photographer for an awesome price. Unfortantualy, she is unable to photograph our wedding, as it will be in another state, but we have already booked a session with her to take photos in our wedding dress & suit on the beach, a few weeks after the actual wedding.

Yes, definitely if it is included in your package. This gives you the opportunity for you and your photographer to get more comfortable with one another before the big day.

Dang, I like the photo proof that you're getting of your relationship, Kadesha. I like it!! Are you having a destination wedding?

    Hi Maggie!

We actually are not having a destination wedding.

We live near the beach, but will be having our wedding in our hometown, in Ohio.

I may take some pictures somewhere along the way but I've got enough to do without adding that to the list. Besides, I'm not planning on doing save the dates either so why get photos done. I told the really important people the date but I'll save the money on printing and postage by doing just one mailing-the invitations.

A year ago I would have said no. But ours were included in our package and a day came up where it all made sense. so we went for it. I am so glad we did. We got to know our photographer and they are my favorite pictures of us just being in love. I would encourage anyone to get them done!

We didn't think they were necessary. We tried taking our own on an IPhone ... needless to say they didn't turn out how we wanted. So we ended up booking a engagement photo shoot with our photographer for the wedding. Smiley smile

Better later then never I guess! lol.

No only to get to know your photographer. Otherwise not worth money.

I took some but they were not a true need. I scheduled the shoot but didn't realize I was going to get engaged that same weekend.

Wait, are you saying that you scheduled a professional photo shoot and then got engaged that same weekend? Was that a coincidence or was that a plan on somebody's part?
