I'm skipping it to save money! A lot of these paper costs are unnecessary. Most of guests are within a couple hours drive of the venue. My few out of town guests ive just told via text message, which gets the job done just as well as a cute little paper sent via mail, except with texting I can acfually talk about it and its received immediately.

Necessary depending on timing & location! We sent them because we have been engaged for a while and had a wedding date change so I wanted to make sure my guests knew it was foreal this time lol

I wouldn’t say necessary but we’re sending them out, I think this is one you could have lots of fun with!

I sent them and I'm really glad I did because I ended up getting the invites out a little late. At least people know when it would be and were able plan in advance for it.

I think it depends on many factors, but we are doing a free online save the date mailing as a formality. It’s more of a heads up to everyone to put in their calendars.

Very necessary! People's calendars get filled up so quickly these days... we would have half the turnout at our wedding if we hadn't sent save-the-dates.

We just sent our invites early instead of STD's. We didn't want to spend the extra money and didn't have a big guest list so it would have been a waste for us.

Waste of money imo. I just sent out our wedding invitations early. It allowed me to have a little bit more freedom in how I designed our invites. Everyone who was coming to our wedding new well in advance if they were coming or not and yes, our wedding is considered a destination wedding.

That's awesome!! I'm so glad the digital route worked out well for you! That's a good point, stationary can be so expensive!

Makes sense, I think that works great for your situation as it gives your guests time to plan travel!

That seems to be the popular thing to do nowadays! I feel like it's nice to start getting head counts earlier on!

We have ordered them and are in the process of addressing them to send out. we think they're necessary, mainly because our families are full of forgetful people.

I think that I feel your wedding is on a holiday weekend or if there will be guests coming from out of town, do save the dates. If not, just send the invites six months before the wedding or ASAP.

Definitely necessary in my opinion, especially if you're planning your wedding during a non-peak wedding season. You want to give your guests the opportunity to make themselves available or just plan around it in case traveling is necessary. It might help them save on flights and hotels for example to book early.

We sent them because we gave a lot of out of town guests and wanted them to have time to plan. Plus it made it real for me, no more changes.

For destination weddings absolutely. But if the wedding is local to the bride and groom, I don’t think they are a requirement

Only for “core” guests - everyone else can be told in person or informally by phone.

Im sending them. Sometimes people really need advance notice to get off, plus its a semi destination wedding so it'll really help.
