What about sending save the dates to out of town guests only or is that tacky?

I never wanted to send them but I got talked into it. I still have mixed feelings. I was careful to only send them to people I was 100% sure about.

However, I do like getting them for other people's weddings to plan ahead!

I did them because we decided this January that we would get married in July and we were inviting out of state guests so we wanted to give them a heads up

My future wife and I are sending out the majority of our stuff digitally, and we’re getting married locally where our families and friends live. We do, however, plan on sending out a few fancy paper invites to our grandparents.

I did all, but I really think they are unnecessary.

We sent them 10 months out to make sure our out of town guests had enough time to plan.

I have sent them! Mainly because our wedding is on a holiday so we wanted to make sure no one makes other plans! 😋

Here are the front and back! I got them from VistaPrint and I always find good coupon codes for them!

Like most people have said, we are sending ours because most of our guests are traveling. We are also doing a long engagement, so we plan to put our wedding website link on the Save the Dates to allow our guests to follow along with our planning and access accommodation/travel info ASAP.

If you're on the fence about sending them, there are a lot of very simple options that you can send but save money doing it.

Not all couples need them it depends on if travel will be required or if you are getting married near a big date. I did not and am glad to not have STDs.

We sent save the dates via email (made one on the computer and emailed it). Looked nice but didn't cost anything and got to them faster! The only things we're actually sending out are invitations.

Unnecessary. My fiancé and I opted out of engagement photos and save the dates in order to save money.

We just sent out invites. Most of everyone invited knew the date as soon as we planned it.

Unnecessary for our 15-person DW because we checked the date/location with everyone before we booked.

Necessary for our local reception because it was held in June and a lot of guests may have made family vacation plans. With only about 50-60 invited guests we wanted as many to make it as possible.
