Neck Scars

Neck Scars 1
I’m hoping that I can get some help from you lovely ladies . I had my skin tags removed about a month and a half ago through cryotherapy (hindsight: I would of had my doctor do something different like cut them off if I knew this was the outcome). I’ve been putting Aloe Vera, Mederma and Derma E scar gel to reduce the appearance but was wondering else I can try? I’ve been wearing turtle necks all winter and it’s going to get warmer soon. I’m WAY self conscious about this right now and I want to cry when I wear T-shirts and worry how this will look in October. I’ve never had an issue with my body image my whole life and this just makes me feel horrible inside. 😭 any advice or reassurance? 😢😢😢

Have you spoken to your doctor about what they would recommend? I've heard BioOil is supposed to work wonders on scars, but I've never tried it myself. Aside from that, does foundation/powder help with them at all?

Either way, you're still going to look amazing on your wedding day! I'm a big believer that we are our own worst critics. I totally get where you're coming from on feeling self conscious (I'm having issues with bumps on my upper arms that just came out of no where), but I promise that NO ONE will be looking at those scars nearly as close or as much as you are. We tend to fixate on the things we're self conscious about, but hardly anyone around us notices things like this.

Best of luck to you! Smiley heart

Not sure how to heal them in general, but for your wedding at least I guarantee a professional makeup artist will be able to cover it flawlessly!

    Mederma Advanced Scar Gel

    Have you tried this too?

I used it and it helped with a scar I had.

Makeup will definitely cover it but also try vitamin E — bioOil — there is so much out there that “can help” but I agree with other post - I would talk tou our doctor about it and they should be able to send you in the right direction of what to use or even provide you with something

I would just give your body the time it needs to heal. Eat right and drink plenty of water. You'd be surprised at how much better it will look in a few months.

Silicone scar pads, stay out of the sun, and I've used this lightening gel I found at Sephora. It had an orange label, can't remember the name. Worst case scenario, they'll be a cinch for your makeup artist to cover up and your photographer to touch up if need be. Worry not!

Murad's Rapid Age Spot and Pigment Lightening serum
But that's really for sunspots! Your scars are still new, so I'd stick with scar treatment

They look like they are on the mend! Another thing you could do if they aren't healing as quickly as you need is get a consultation at a medspa to see if they can do some lightening treatment. There are usually groupon available for medspa treatments.

Dang im sorry! I have skin tags and I know by the time im 50 i will have a lot more like my dads side of the family. I always figured I would get them removed in the future but I had no clue the removal could cause scars.

Now onto my advice: my skin does NOT heal well. I get hyperpigmentation like its nobodys business. I get purplish dark spots on my skin even after a mosquito bite. My face is full of acne scars. I would recommend using some serums or products with glycolic acid or AHA/BHAs these are acids that will exfoliate, resurface, and lighten. Also vitamin C products are good for lightening and recommend using glycolic acid face masks for the neck area. And start exfoliating regularly. Hope you find something that works for you. Try to search for things to fade dark spots vs treatment of scars only because to me what stands out the most is the discoloration.

I second the lightening treatment by pp. Right now im doing microneedling on my face to help w my scars but cant use lightening lasers because it can cause hyperpigmentation in my skin tone. Hope you can find something that works!

I did the same thing but I can’t remember how long it took for them to fade unfortunately. But it will get better...I have more and I’m going to see if my doctor can cut a couple of the big ones so I can wear a necklace comfortably.

Hey, girl! I have no experience with skin tags, but I have a horrid habit of picking at my face right before big events. Last year, I had a gala and a huge scab on my forehead from picking it looked bad. I had some random samples from a health fair. I tried TriDerma MD Diabetic Ulcer Healing Cream. It actually worked in a few days. I am not diabetic, but I'm a nurse and I know how long it takes my diabetic patients to heal. This stuff worked wonders. I don't even have a scar. You can find it at Walgreen's. Good luck!

If they are still noticeable by October just get a spray tan. I have skin pigmentation problems in certain areas, and they are almost invisible with the spray tan. Just make sure you go to a place where they spray you by hand. They can do multiple layers to where you won’t be able to notice your scars.

I've never done cryotherapy but I'm fair skinned and any sort of cut or scar takes a while to reduce in redness and visibility on my skin. I don't generally have bad skin but I do get pimples from time to time and if I get a bad one it can take months after the pimple heals before I don't have a noticeable red spot anymore. I definitely empathize with you!

I'd definitely recommend avoiding sun exposure and keeping your skin moisturized and healthy. Stay hydrated, drink plenty of water and make sure you are eating an antioxidant rich, nutritious diet and limiting alcohol, cigarettes, drugs, and other substances that will prevent your skin from healing. Your skin is an organ, and it needs to be cared for in order to heal properly. I haven't tried any scar reduction treatments myself (I've been meaning to look into them) but SPF and good, healthy habits will definitely give your chance the best shot at healing fully.
