Need a Rustic DIY Punch Bowl

Valerie, on March 24, 2015 at 8:31 AM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 9

Having a small outdoor wedding in the fall. We’re just doing a cake and punch reception. We have a cool rustic drink dispenser we’re using for apple cider. Now I’m trying to find something I can use (or make into) for punch. I’ve looked at using a metal bucket. But can you really put punch directly into a metal bucket? I don’t want to use a pumpkin or watermelon. Does anyone have any good ideas on how to make an outdoor/rustic punch bowl? Or anywhere I could buy something inexpensive?

What about just a regular glass punch bowl?

We've thought about that. We just want something that's going to look a little more "rustic" I guess. Our cupcakes are going to be on a stand made from tree pieces. Our bottled water will be in a metal tub with ice. So we're just trying to stick with the rustic look for this too.

I saw that too. We already have a drink dispenser though. We need something for punch with a ladle. Our punch will have sherbet in it, and you can't get to that if it's in a dispenser.

I don't see why a regular glass punch bowl would not be considered rustic. I personally would just use it because of how pretty they are, and it will show off the sherbert. I would not use a metal bucket but if you want something metal, maybe a stock pot since they are meant to hold stuff we eat?

I agree that a normal glass punch bowl would fit in just fine with a rustic theme, especially because you could go to thrift stores and look for something "vintage", but if that's not working for you, this is the only other suggestion I have (see picture). Not sure where you would get large glass "jugs" like these:

What about a tan & brown crock? Not see-through, but rustic. You can find them at antique shops (my hubby just bought several).

So I think we decided to do this. We have a "cheap" plastic punch bowl that's not very pretty. We're going to try to find one of these whiskey type barrels, and we'll just set our punch bowl in it. I think that should fit our rustic theme quite nicely.

    Thanks everyone for your input.

I know you said that you have already decided but I am just throwing this idea out there LOL. Buy a glass punch bowl at Goodwill or any thrift store and hot glue twigs to it. You mentioned your having a tree cupcake stand. It would tie in more of your tree theme and be very rustic. I like the barrel idea also. God Luck and Happy Planning.
