Need advice on choosing wedding date

Candice, on March 22, 2022 at 8:40 PM Posted in Planning 11 4

Hey guys. So I'm recently engaged... yay me!! I had planned on getting married on 5/6 of next yr because it is my grandparents anniversary and I wanted to honor them. The thing is that we won't be financially ready to have a wedding next yr so we pushed it to 2024. Unfortunately, that year is a leap year and 5/6 now falls on a Monday. So now I'm thinking maybe I should do a courthouse wedding on that day next yr and just have a reception the following yr but I would have to give up the most of the things that comes with a ceremony ex: wearing a wedding dress, having a bridal party, father- daughter dance. If i decide to just wait till 2024, then I'll have to give up the date and have the wedding on 5/4 or 5/5. What would you guys do if it was you? Would love to hear your opinion.

If you get married at the courthouse, you can still have a dress and a bridal party and a father-daughter dance at your celebration a year later. (You can have some or all of it at you wedding.) I think it all depends on how tied you are to being married on your grandparents' wedding day. For me, a specific date wasn't that important, so I wouldn't have any issue with the other dates - but that's just me.

It depends on how tied you are to that date. A date doesn’t matter specifically to me and I wouldn’t keep pushing it off. I would just get married that weekend

You could also just have a full wedding on 5/6/24 and have it all: the date, big dress, ceremony, reception, dances, etc. It is okay to get married on a weekday! Keep an open mind.

I got married on a Tuesday and honestly it made life so much easier for us. It was cheaper and we also had an easier time booking vendors. We were able to book all of our first choice vendors because none of them had scheduling conflicts. We even were able to find a replacement for a vendor that fell through last minute! Our guests had more than a year's notice to make travel plans which allowed them to request time off. Some of them were happy it was a weekday because weekends were the hardest for them to request off (food service and recreation jobs).

Just some food for thought! 😁

I'm getting married on a Monday! If you are tied to 5/6, go for it! Weekday weddings are cool too😎
