Need help finding good place to buy 2-3 oz. glass jars.

Andrea, on September 19, 2011 at 10:29 AM Posted in Do It Yourself 1 17

We're giving out some of my grandparents' home harvested honey and honey dippers for our wedding favors. So far we've found a good/inexpensive place to buy our dippers (if you're interested, check out http://www.craftparts.com/honey-dippers-wood-scoops-c-441.html ), but we're still looking for a place to buy our jars from. I know that some of you are planning on giving out jams or honey as your favors. Where are you buying your jars from? How much have they cost? If you've already bought and received them, are you happy with the quality?

Thanks, Mrs. S. That's pretty reasonable. I may go with them. They're showing up as only $7.97 on the website! I've just been hesitant before about buying jars over 3 oz. I'd like our OOT guest to be able to carry them on the plane with them. The more that I think about it, however, the more I think that most of our OOT guests will probably be checking a bag.

Carlson Craft offers these little 2" jars for around $2 each. You can order them by the dozen online. The ribbon and candy is not included.

I know it sounds crazy, but if you have a bunch of baby food jars or know somebody who may have just had a baby, you can sterilize the jars and use them. You can buy lids or stickers to put on the lids.

That might totally be a lame idea, but it popped into my brain so there you go!

I haven't ordered from them but I bookmarked their site awhile ago for future reference... Freund Container & Supply. Lots of options for jars at a really reasonable price. Here is a 2.4oz jar... A case of 48 is $28.59/lids sold separately for 12 cents each.

No, Tigg, that's not a lame idea. It's great if you can reuse jars. The only issue is trying to find new lids that will fit the jars (I'm sure that it's possible).

Corrine, thank you! Those are really reasonably priced. I bookmarked that page.

I found this site years ago and you just reminded me of it- I might order something from here for my shower/wedding favors!

Check out this place too: http://www.specialtybottle.com/index.aspx

We're getting tins to put our cookies in. I'm not seeing 3oz. jars, but there are plenty of 4oz. ones.

Sunburst Bottle sells many different shapes and sizes, and at wholesale prices. I really like them for vials and jars for homemade beauty products.

Www.dollartree.com is my candy supplier and almost everything else. not sure that they have the best jar selection. Yet the competition for your mighty dollar has really increased the quality of what a buck will buy you! Wedding reception item's is pretty awesome!

As far as it being less then 3oz and taking in carry-on, it's going to be a hard to bargin with TSA that "honey" is not a "liquid".

As a flying guest, I probably wouldn't pack the honey in my checked or unchecked luggage. I'd either not take it or leave it with my host. (IE, I'm going to wedding in Richmond VA in October and staying with a friend.)

I really really like your honey idea though and think it's super cute!

We decided to keep the favors at less than 3 oz. because we don't know if our OOT guests may want to bring it in their carry on. So long as it's under 3 oz., they are allowed to bring it on the plane (of course, it will have to be scanned separetely with all of their other liquids).

I got some from Hobby Lobby for the sugar scrub I'm making for my bms and they were $2 but 50% off so $1 each.

This is what they look like, I love them! Smiley smile

Guess who's going to be asking her mom to make a Hobby Lobb pitstop? That's right, this girl!...I'd do it myself if we had a Hobby Lobby in town.

Btw, do you know how many oz. that jar is?

There was an add in one of those Kamloops FB groups where they were selling mini mason jars. Anyone see those ads? They must have sold them I'm too late. Has anyone seen those 1.5oz jars with gold lids? Fiancé would buy 500 if they were available. Thanks
