It's almost impossible to give an accurate idea of a quote with such limited information, because this is really dependent on a lot of factors. Where you live, when you're getting married, whether you want specific flowers, if they are in season at the time of your wedding, the style and scale of the florals you are looking for, whether you just want 'personals' or decor for your reception and ceremony venues, and how complex you want them to be.

For example, a few bouquets and button holes for your bridal party only will cost a lot less than all of those, plus a floral arch for the ceremony, flowers on each of the church pews, 10 table arrangements for the reception, plus a hanging overhead installation.

Another factor which also impacts, is let's say you want a really big, grand arrangement in your reception venue - but your venue only allows florists access 1 hour before the reception begins. That means they have to hire more staff to complete the job in the time allotted.

If I were you, I would think about what flowers you want - something fairly standard might be:

    button holes for the groomsmen

    bouquets for the girls

corsages for the mums or grandmas

some kind of decorative arrangement for the ceremony

however many table arrangements as you have tables for your reception venue

Then, think about what size, scale, colour etc you want. Send some pictures to a few florists, and ask for a rough quote. Once they come back with something, if it's more than you can afford, tell them your budget and ask what they could do for that cost, or if there are creative ways to get a similar look for less.

As Rosie said, there is really no such thing as a “typical” cost of flowers. It depends heavily upon the location of the wedding, how many flowers you want, and whether they are high dollar flowers and/or in-season. Just to give you an idea of how large a difference it can be… my co-worker only spent $500 on florals, my cousin spent $1400, we are spending $2600, and my best friend spent over $10,000!

My daughter spent $900 for 3 bouquets, 8 corsages, and 11 boutennaires through a florist and then another $1,000 on diy aisle arrangements and table centerpieces through Fiftyflowers.com

The first thing you'll need to do is make a list of exactly how many floral pieces you need (how many centerpieces, bouquets, boutonnieres, corsages, additional arrangements, ceremony decor, etc.) From there you can start requesting & comparing quotes!

Here are a few great discussions to check out as well with details about different couples floral budgets and what that looks like:
