Need help with funny ideas to surprise parents with engagement!

Hi ladies,
i could really use your input! My FH and I started planning our wedding without a proposal or ring because it was a decision between the two of us that after 5 years together we wanted to get married. He has currently been deployed to the Middle East with the Army for 8 months and was due to return home in November. We were then going to announce our engagement (and August 2019 Wedding) when he returned home. We wanted all of the focus to be on just making through the yearlong deployment.

Well.......I should know that you can never plan with Army life (I served 12 years in the Army myself). My FH and I just found out he will be extended overseas until Feb 2019. With this turn of events (and many, MANY tears) we’ve decided to announce our engagement to family while he is overseas due to the timeline of the wedding. All good things are coming and we’re looking ahead!

We want to keep this fun and lighthearted because it is difficult news that my FH will be overseas 3 months longer than we anticipated. Do you ladies have any funny pranks/surprises we could do to announce to our families that we’re getting married? We’re going to try to get my FH on Skype during the whole thing thing.

Any suggestions are welcome! We want this to be a silly, hilarious and joyous announcement! :-)
