Need ideas to light up cake stand please

Ester C, on June 16, 2012 at 12:22 AM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 7

I saw this cake stand that I really like but can you all give me suggestions as to what to use to light up the middle? I know candles won't work and i would prefer some type of lighting that would change colors.

Maybe? I've never done any projects with lights so I know nothing about them or what's out there.

Individual tea lights as Shellie stated, or (I can't tell by the pic) but if the stand has a bit of lip, you could use the battery operated strand of xmas lights. They usually come 10 - 25 lights per strand for under $10 I believe in either white or green strands. I know Beverly's have them.

I think the biggest problem you will have is the thickness of the stand. If it is pretty thin you can use just a few lights, but if it is thick you will need lights every couple of inches.

They are glass blocks, I imagine like they use for bathroom windows. I wonder if those blocks come in different thicknesses?

L.E.D. lights would be perfect. They come in tons of different colors, even ones that change different colors and you can get 10 for about $10 on Amazon

    Good luck!
