So I’m having the biggest anxiety attack right now, my fiancé grandpa is in hospice and he wants to get married before his grandpa passes away, well I’m torn between getting married at our house or finding a venue and with him wanting this so sudden we are balling on a tight budget. I’m in tears because I can’t buy a really nice dress but I have my prom dress (pic below) but my cat pee on it and I don’t have the time or money to fit into getting it cleaned plus I don’t know if it will fit I had a baby four months ago! We are thinking of just a ceremony somewhere then go out to a restaurant or have a cookout after but I just can’t get my mind set on it, I want something nice if we are doing it quick because my “dream” wedding won’t happen... but I have a feeling that I won’t be happy with the end results Smiley sad TIA

You can do a small, inexpensive wedding now so his grandpa can be there. Then you can plan your dream wedding for a later date giving you time to save $. Though everyone will tell you the second one won't be a wedding but a vow renewal because you'll already be married but you can have a ceremony and reception. That's we did due to health concerns about my MIL. We had a small ceremony, just immediate family, I bought a long white dress for $40, and we went to our favorite restaurant for dinner. And it still was very special even though not what we originally planned. Now we're planning the big, "dream" wedding for next year.

Use vinegar to get the cat smell out of it. I'd just have an elopement with you, your fiancé, grandpa, and parents. Then later have a ceremony and reception for everyone else. It shouldn't cost too much to hire someone to wed you and get the marriage license. Your dress would be perfect for something small. A nice meal with everyone after sounds nice. Maybe even have it at a park or in someone's backyard. Sorry to hear about grandpa being on hospice, I know how hard that is.

I know. I felt the same way for awhile. But when I saw him at the end of the aisle and we exchanged our vows it was as special and magical as its supposed to be. I'm still navigating how the next one will work but it'll work out the way its supposed and it'll be a great day too. And then you'll have two special days to celebrate! 😉
