Need some advice please

Hello. I was due to be an October 5, 2024 bride at a traditional wedding in our hometown. However, we have been throwing around the idea of just scratching that whole idea and doing a destination wedding with just a few close friends and family. The thought of planning a destination wedding is terrifying so my question is 1. Has anyone done this? Did you regret not having your traditional wedding? 2. Could anyone recommend any destination wedding planning resources? Thank you all so much 💜

Hey! I’m doing a destination wedding, but in terms of planning resources, it varies SO widely based on location. Like popular domestic destinations (like Vegas and Charleston) are different from Disney (which is what I’m doing), and internationally the Caribbean is different from Italy (I’ve seen soooo many Italian wedding posts on weddit lol). They all have different quirks, and there’s all-inclusive vs a la carte, etc. I haven’t had my wedding yet, but I don’t regret my decision at all so far. It’s actually way easier on my guests to travel to Orlando than the small town I live in, and I’ve been pleasantly surprised by how excited some of my guests are. I do think it would have cost us significantly less if we’d stayed home, even with the smaller guest count, because destination weddings usually involve more events and meals than just the reception (we’re doing a welcome party and farewell brunch to thank our guests for all the effort). If I were you, if you don’t have a destination or region in mind, I would just read through threads here and other forums posted by destination couples and maybe watch some YouTube videos that will give you some idea of where you might want to go. Then once you have that narrowed down, you can get more specific advice from couples who are planning in the same region.
