Just Said Yes April 2016

Need some advice.

My husband and I have been married for over 5 years now, but there were a few things we didn't do at our actual wedding that we would like to do at our vow renewal. We were kinda rushed by my now mil, due to me being an expecting mother at the time. We have an angel baby and a now 4 yr old rainbow-baby daughter. What I need help with is this. We didn't have a proper reception or a first dance at our wedding, and my husband and I never had a shower or bachelor/bachelorette party. We're not asking for gifts, as we did have gifts at our wedding, but would it be ok for us if we had a proper reception and have our first dance? We also have a few ideas that we wanted together for our vow renewal that we didn't have at our wedding, such as my father walking me down the aisle for our ceremony. If we did a tiered cake, I have a wedding topper that I was gonna have passed down from my mother that I wanted to have on the top tier, as we never got to use it at the official wedding, if that's alright as well. With those small details in mind, can it still look like a nice ceremony without it looking like a wedding?

I don’t see why you can’t have a first dance or use the cake topper. Sounds fun, enjoy it! You waited long enough

A reception is essentially a party and parties are always fine to throw for any occasion. So, definitely have a party for your anniversary/vow renewal. And if you have dancing at your vow renewal party, then of course you should dance together. Same for serving cake. There is no reason at all not to serve cake as the dessert at your party and to put whatever decoration you like on it.

Try not to worry about these little details and just have fun planning and celebrating your party!

I think a vow renewal is just as important and you should be able to decide to do anything you want with your day! I say do whatever will make you and your husband happy & I’m sure no one will question your decision. You deserve a reception, first dance & everything else you may have missed out on at your wedding
