Need to drop 20 pounds fast

alaynab123, on June 20, 2018 at 11:24 AM Posted in Fitness and Health 0 30
Hey all! So I bought my wedding dress almost a year ago, my wedding is in 2 months and I bought it right off the rack thinking maintaining my weight over a year would be easy! YEAH OKAY! Who knew the slightest fluctuations would make such a difference, but my dress is SNUG and my first alterations appointment is July 14th. The back of my dress is a beautiful button up and I REALLY do not want to have to add a coresstte to accomadate for my extra fat lol. So I need tips on what you guys did if you were in similar situations! I’ve obviously been cautious of what I’ve been eating and keeping carbs to a minimum but I don’t know if there are any work out suggestions (I don’t have access to a gym so my only options are running outside or work out videos online) that really worked for anyone who needed to drop the weight to fit into a dress fast! I’m freaking out and the stress of it all just makes me want to eat like crap even more!! Ugh 😑

Up the water intake and eliminate sugar and wheat! not all carbs are bad carbs. I did the whole30 in the fall and lost 16lbs in a month. I'm about to do it again since I didn't exactly maintain what I lost...I fell hard off the bandwagon in the last 2 months

Only eat whole foods and make sure you're utilizing portion control. Carbs aren't the devil.

Search “bed work out” it comes up with some easy things to do at home! As for losing weight, look into the Keto diet, I am going to be starting it in the next few days! It is a very beneficial diet, apparently you feel bad for the first two weeks but then you feel great, and it destroys fat!

Try blogilates! The online workouts are awesome (and free). Keep a food journal and try to burn more calories working out than you eat. Thins like sweet potatos and plain full fat Greek yogurt will keep you full and provide you with enough energy to work out. Whole fruits and vegetables are great go to snacks .

Hey, girl, hey! First and foremost- please don't jump on a fad diet in an attempt to drop weight super fast. That's not healthy, safe, or effective. If you're going to try a particular diet, do your research

Next up, change your mindset (easier said than done, but you're on a time crunch so listen up, buttercup!) When you get stressed out, grab some headphones and hit the pavement instead of opening the fridge. I say this because stress eating doesn't stem from needing nutrients- you need a distraction. Multi-task by walking, jogging, running, sprinting, grapevining, cartwheeling....whatever, just get moving.

If you're interested, look up cardio kickboxing (shadowboxing) videos online. Non-contact, obviously. These are most effective if you give ti your all for 30-45 minutes straight.

Drink water. Also, portion control. It's not easy but you can do it! It's all in your head! Smiley winking Smiley winking

Drink lots and lots of water, cut sugar out completely (I lost 5 lbs in a week) and eat clean/whole foods, no processed foods.

Seems cliche but look into the beach body workouts. I've had a lot of success with them and they are easy to do at home and are only 25-60 mins per day depending on which program/workout you choose.

Carbs are not the devil. I believe, everything in moderation.

Have you tried counting calories? I can recommend the app Lose It! Very convenient for tracking what you consume and it breaks down nutrients for you, too.

20lbs in 2 months though... it's not going to be healthy whatever way you do it.

Thanks for all the replies! I still fit into my dress, but it is tight lol. I think if I drink more water and workout grouped with my already change in diet I will be fine, but still the stress of it not fitting exactly the way it was when purchased is scary 😩

I try to keep my total carbs around 45 a day. I’ve lost 41 pounds in about 2 and 1/2 months. I also started at 307 pounds, so the weight comes off quicker. I’ve been eating a lot of salads. If you get a sweet tooth, sugar free pudding cups or diabetic yogurt (just be prepared for more liquidity type yogurt) might help! All I drink is water. Also, I find that the Atkin protein shakes are great meal replacements, for when you’re on the go. Best one I say is the royal dark chocolate. You got this! Good luck!

Tons of water! Stop drinking soda or beer if you do. I know when my mom stop drinking soda she dropped I think maybe 10 pounds in a month!

    1. Throw out any ideas involving low fat / low carb diets because they DO NOT work. Your body needs carbs and healthy fats.

    2. Water... lots of it.

    3. Cut out as much "bad" sugars like pop, candy, sweets

    4. PROTEIN, seriously protein keeps you fuller longer and helps build muscle which is a if not the key component to losing weight. Muscle burns fat so the more muscle you have the better. Which leads me into my next point.

    5. Lift weights and stop cardio, while cardio is great lifting weights are actually researched and proven to help you lose weight because you're building more muscle.

    6. Try to fit in as much exercise time as possible.

I follow a lot of fitness bloggers on youtube and instragram. My favorite is Elizabeth Zaks you should check her out.

    Good luck!

Also gerritys married verrrrry soon. 52 days!!! My dress fits but is tight in the belly well it was 3 weeks ago.
    Here’s what i did / do

    - got a food scale. I i measure anything other then fruit or if t doesn’t have nutritional info on it, Download myfitness pal. Shoot for 1500 calories a day on days I just do a run and 1650 on days I do bootcamp class through a local gym . Between Running/ eliptical and weight training/boot camp I’m hoping it helps me lose body fat / tone and just feel better in my dress. I’m also “plus size” 16 and I’m learning how to be confident, happy, and kind to my body right now at the size it is. I try to do daily affirmations and be as body positive as I can, while being realistic and pushing myself to do my best.

So I lost the most weight (20lbs in 25 days) by drinking ONLY water.

No carbs, no sugar, no alcohol, no cheese and no red meat.

I also did the T-25 workout. It is an amazing workout!! And only costs you 25 minutes a day. It is super intense, but it worked for me. I felt good.

    Best of luck to you.

Use an app like Couch 2 5k or Running for a weight loss. Both are great for interval training (and shedding the extra lbs)!

Definitely up the movement but don't expect it to make a big change on it's own. You have to pair it with healthy eating. Try to replace two meals per week with a salad, be sure to keep your protein in there and have your dressing on the side. Dunk your fork in the dressing and then pick up your salad. Such a huge reduction in calories! Cut salt as much as you can and you will lose a lot of water.

Were you able to zip/button your dress all the way?
