Need to fit in my dress!

Tori, on November 19, 2017 at 2:04 PM Posted in Fitness and Health 0 26

So I bought my dress in a size 2 petite just in July. I tried a 4 on and it was pretty bug on me. The girl helping me recommended I buy a 2. I'm currently wearing a size 4 in pants/shorts and am worried because im realizing that the 4 I tried on was probably stretched out from it being a sample. So I have 9 months till the wedding and am doing operation lose the skinny fat. I'm a month in and down 6 lbs. I think I can do this! I'm nervous to try it on again! Anyone else in my boat?

    Hold up, what?!

First, you have a rocking body. Good for you.

Second, no clue why that consultant told you to buy a 2. I wear a 2 in pants, but wore a 4 petite wedding dress. Wedding dresses usually go a size smaller. Who is your designer/retailer? That can help to see if things are true to size.

Did she recommend you buy a 2 based off your measurements or based on how the sample fit? Can the store provide you with the sizing chart with measurements included?

I'm normally a 0/2 and I ordered a size 6 dress. I'm still worried it's going to be too small lol. I understand why you are be concerned. Did they take your measurements and match it with the closest size? Did they show you the size chart?

I'm not in this boat, but what cool motivation to get in great shape. Clearly you're working hard and looking good! Best luck with the dress!

Did they measure you? If not then you may have issues with the dress . Bridal gowns are usually a smaller size than street clothes. Im a 16 in street clothes and my dress is a 22.. I may be s bit worried if it were me.

Good luck girl. I wear size 4 pants and I ordered a size 8 dress. It's pretty big (some one the size 6 dresses fit perfectly some too small around my hips and bust. My sample dress was a 22 so she suggested I ordered am 8 just in case) but its easier to take in then let out.

Did they actually take your measurements? As PP have said wedding dresses run small. I'm a 4/6 street and got an 8 for my wedding dress. You look great and congratulations on losing the weight! Good luck with the dress

That's weird, aren't wedding dresses usually sized smaller so you have to go up?!

I normally wear 4 in normal clothes but my dress is an 8

Also, what are you doing?! Because you look GREAT! I have 2 weeks! #procrastination

You have time, but if they gave you bad advice. I would definitely go back and get measured and change the order to the right size. David's is usually pretty good about exchanges.

    Also you look great!!!

Another "skinny fat" here! I feel like when you get down to just that last annoying 5 pounds, it is 100% DIET. Do your research, but I personally have to avoid all alcohol, carbs, sugar to get that last few pounds off.

Thanks everyone! My dress was shipped to my sister's house in CA Because that s where I'm getting married. I currently live in HI and didn't want to have to bring it back and forth. Moving back to CA in Feb and will be able to try it on then I've got some time to get where I need to be and know I can do it because I used to be a size 00. Fingers crossed! I will get back to this (right side).

Girl you look awesome!! But yes I need to lose some weight before my wedding in 4 MONTHS! I'm so worried I have such a hard time getting motivated and I'm so busy it's so inconvenient to eat healthy the way I want. It esp sucks that my wedding is shortly after the holidays. I've got to really buckle down. But at least my dress is a ball gown and has a real corset back so that helps which is fabulous.

Have you looked at intermittent fasting, like 5:2 or 16:8? seems to help people lose weight and also tone their shape.

You look awesome!! Way to go! I'm in the same boat, but I have more like 30 lbs to lose lol. I usually wear an 8/10 in pants, but ordered a size 16 dress as those were my measurements. The dress is a little big, but nothing alterations can't fix. Good luck!

You look absolutely incredible! I feel you though I was in between a 2 and 4 when I purchased my dress but could still use some slimming and tonning so I ordered the 2! It really motivates me to workout, eat right, and tone up for the big day!

I don't think it is good advice to tell someone who is a size 4 to order a size down. Please make sure you are only losing what is healthy for you and your body. I ordered a size 4 even though it was a little big because my measurememts aligned better with a size 4 than a size 2, and I would never want to put extra pressure on myself to be a certain size when my weight is in the healthy range. If you speak up I think this is something they would need to rectify!

No where near your size, but I also have this same issue. I tried on one size, and still needed to be pinned. My measurements came up a size or so larger than the one I tried on. My consultant said she understands that they can sometimes stretch out. But not this much, so she still ordered me the size of the sample I tried on. Now I am nervous if it will fit.
