My fiancé and I went to our venue yesterday to redue our contacts (the old event staff left and a new event staff came in). We found out we have to find our own place to rent table linens and chair covers, along with our wedding guests not being able to self serve themselves from the pasta buffet. We are now required to hire people to serve the food and they must have a food handlers card, otherwise they are unable to serve the food. I have 55 days until I walk down the aisle and I’m stressing out.

Omg that's horrible 😳 they could've at least told you ahead of time. You may be able to look on thumbtack for servers. It sucks having unexpected expenses so close to your wedding though.

That’s standard food safety regulations. We are still in a pandemic that’s not going anywhere so everyone needs to take precautions. If they require you to have in house catering, then it’s for everyone’s safety and liability that they require servers and the venue needs to hire them. If not, look on thumbtack.com for event staffing. It will work out fine.

Trust me, it has just added on extra stress. My fiancé and I should not have to worry about still doing all of this so close to the wedding. Now we need to find servers, table linens, chair covers, make the table decor, still book our honeymoon hotel stays, get our music playlists, etc.

We where required to go and find our own catering service, since they no longer provide one. I think I’m the most upset because they could have told me this a month ago when they told me I needed to find my own catering service.

Definitely stressful. I hope you can find everything that you need easily. So since the terms of your contract changed, just curious if there was a decrease in price?

Yes there was a decrease in price. Instead of owing about 1,500 more we only owe 150 more.

That’s awful, just tackle one thing at a time. A caterer should be able to provide servers. Call local rental companies and give them details and see what they recommend. Rental places are usually pretty good at figuring that stuff out since that’s what they do. Deep breaths, you got this!

I have a few people I have talked to who are going to try and help me find servers and places I can rent the table linens and chair covers from.

That sounds like a plan. It's not really a lengthy process to get a food-handlers card. Any professional server can put in online training time and there are staffing agencies to help you, if your catering company cannot. You can further get competitive linen rental rates as most big companies have good online platforms.
