Also can anyone share their experiences if they have any with doing something like this?

The owner of our venue offered to knock a couple hundred off when he knew we were torn between two places. This ultimately made us go with him over the second venue we were considering.

I don't think it hurts to see if they can work with you at all.

We were able to negotiate our venue minimum down by $1000. With their pricing, we were going to be just over budget after tax. We can host our guests properly within the minimum we negotiated. It was a shot in the dark, we knew we had to walk away and keep looking if they declined.

It doesn't hurt to ask, my friend asked for the price to be lower and they worked with her on that. You won't know until you ask.

I didn't negotiate the price because they were already offering off season specials (waiver of a 5-6k site fee and free holiday decor), but I did negotiate the contract a bit so that children were included in the minimum guest count, as we knew that price per head is the largest expense and also that our budget really only allowed for X number of people.

I am renting a space similar to yours. It is a house that sleeps 50 that we are renting for 3 nights. The price per night was non-negotiable but I got the event fee knocked down 1000 dollars by just asking. I do not think there is any harm in asking.
