Hello Everyone!

FH and I are planning a some what nerd wedding for us! So I want to see if there is anyone else out there that is planning the same thing and I wanted to see what everyone has so far! I have not seen a post like this so far! So I thought it wouldnt be a bad idea to share!

I am going to start by posting what I am thinking about!

We are having game boards as centerpieces, and we are going to have board games with different stuff we like. So far we have Dr. Who Monopoly.

My bouquet is using a lightsaber handle, Harry potter book pages. The cake toppers are star wars related and then as escort cards I'm making mini figs of the guests as their favorite character on vespas (DW in Italy).

We didn't really have anything nerdy in our wedding, but I did give H a copy of The Princess Bride (book) and wrote a note to him in the front as part of my gift for him to open while getting ready.

We were gonna have a full harry potter wedding but didn't want to leave out our other fandoms, so we are only showing the fandom part on our cake. Each tier will be dedicated to one of our favorite things (Harry Potter, marvel, Disney, psych, and marching band)

We have a couple nerdy details, like a Star Wars cake topper, I'm wearing the Evenstar Necklace, our first dance is from Labyrinth. We kept it subtle, but still us Smiley smile

Our cake topper has Batman and Princess Jasmine on it. And there will be a quote on the cake table that says "He always dreamed of being a hero, she always dreamt of being a princess. As fate would have it, he's her hero and she's his princess". Our theme is Aladdin because on our very first date I told him that "A Whole New World" would be the song for my first dance with my future husband and he also themed the engagement with us watching Aladdin and him proposing when the scene with "A Whole New World" played. Our colors are blue purple and gold. Each of my bridesmaids will be a different princess and will have tshirts that are grey with the princess' outline in gold on each on that they'll wear for the rehearsal. FH friend has a 3D printer and will be making us Mickey ears for each of the different princesses and the guys will have a different superhero tshirt under their dress clothes so we will have a few wedding party pictures with the ears and tshirts included. Our centerpieces are different sized bottles with candles on top of a piece of fabric with a border around it and fringe on the corners to be like the rug. I also got a beautiful genie's lamp for the head table. My dad also gave my mom and grandma authentic prayer rugs a few years ago so I'm going to try and incorporate those in the ceremony (one is blue and one purple, so its perfect). We are also huge game nerds so we'll have yard games at the reception for between the ceremony and reception and our favors are going to be customized playing cards and a dice set (one blue and one purple) because FH collects dice and we both collect playing cards.

We're going for a more subtle nerdiness since our wedding is heavily themed already. Right now our ideas are:

    - Table numbers in the form of Star Trek communicators.

    - Snow owl candles made with black wax and column candles with snakes carved into them.

    - A T.A.R.D.I.S groom's cake (okay, okay. This one is not so subtle but FH loves him some Dr. Who.)

I have so many ideas for a Star Wars wedding or a Lord of the Rings wedding. I would love to do one as my theme but unfortunately themes like that take a lot of money to do really well and I don't have the budget for it. I can always imagine.

Our nerdier elements are very minimal and very subtle, or our wedding would be in danger of looking like the mutant spawn of a comic-con and Wacken Open Air.

We will enter the reception with Imperial March and we will cut the cake and toast with the theme from Monkey Island. Other than that, our invitations have a version of the White Tree of Gondor drawn, but instead of stars around it, there are snowflakes and the two bottom ones (one on each side) are in reality made up of tiny tiny Yoda heads. They are so small that if you don't know to look for it it, you won't notice it at all. It was just a small Easter Egg type of thing, for FH's and my personal amusement.

And finally, our wedding bands right now only have each other's name engraved in them, but we will add each other's nickname as well, which are the nicks we both have had for years and we actually met each other under. Mine is Shelob, so a LotR nickname obviously and it will be engraved with Quenya characters (the one ring runes) and FH's nick is from a metal band and I will engrave it with Tolkien's Dwarf runes (we both adore Tolkien and FH adores runes and Scandinavian mythology).

And that is all for us!

The one nerdy element at our wedding was our registry-signing music—one of my oldest friends is a violinist and she offered to play any song we chose. We ended up using Han and Leia’s love theme from Star Wars. It was awesome because we could see people figuring it out as she was playing and everyone else just thought it was a pretty song.

I love this! We are planning on adding little touches to the wedding, as we both love so many "nerdy" things. But we are doing small things because we dont want a complete theme wedding, and it would be a mess with all the different themes (Doctor Who, Marvel, DC, Buffy, Angel etc)
