Nervous about picking up my dress friday

Sarah, on January 27, 2021 at 9:21 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 8
I'm nervous about picking up my dress for a few reason. The first being since I bought it I put on ten pounds, 5 of which I've re lost over the past few weeks. Plus its bloat week so I'm feeling kind of puffy. I'm probably being a bit dramatic but my dress is very form fitting so I'm kind of anxious. The next reason is I'm afraid I really don't like my dress. I originally had an a line with a layered skirt in mind, but wanted to try everything on so I could be sure. Well my dress is a sheath, I felt amazing in it and I think I let everyone elses excitement influence my own feelings as well. A few months after I purchased it I realized theres nothing I really love about it. I mean I think I look good in it so thats not the problem. But like if I were to look in a magazine and see my dress I would never be like omg its such a beautiful dress I want to wear it, if that makes sense. I try to talk myself into the fact that I like that its not as heavy as some of the other gowns. The back is also lower then I thought I was going to be able to get. But idk theres just something thats not clicking. I've been hoping this whole time that once I put it on again I'm going to feel great and love it again, but I'm so scared that I might just feel like I hate it. I can't return or exchange, and can't take the financial loss, I stupidly went over budget for it. Anyone have any suggestions other than getting a whole new gown?

Hi Sarah, it’s common to get worried before dress appointments. I know I always was ❤️ Especially during bloated weeks 😂 How you feel in it is the most important part! I’d love to see a picture! I’m optimistic about your appointment.

Worse case scenario, if you don’t like it, sell the one you have online and I would recommend searching without anyone but you and the consultant. It will eliminate any biases, however, I’m hopeful you will feel amazing in it yet again ❤️

I wouldn't recommend getting a new gown. You picked it for a reason and you said you looked good in it.

Thanks. And yea my advice to anyone I know in the future would be to go dress shopping alone, I feel like it would have been so much easier lol.

Here is my dress. So I love the veil. I like the way the dress looks from the back. Right now I'm not too crazy about it from the front. I like that its fairly light, but its very stiff. I think if it had more tulle I would be happier with it. I tried an overskirt with it the day I bought it but wasn't crazy about that. I even tried adding a belt but thought that was too much.

Yea, I guess I just wish I liked it. It was #7 out of 10 dresses I tried. I think my problem is I never tried on the kind of dress I wanted before I found this one, so I sometimes feel like I settled. Hopefully I'll feel better about it on friday

    You look gorgeous in it!

It's also very common to misremember how you felt/looked that day (and phone pictures in a dress that isn't altered to you and in meh lighting don't exactly capture that moment).

    Take a deep breath.

A good alteration will have that dress fitting you *just right* in no time at all, and you'll remember why you got it in the first place!

I love the feminine sleeves!! Totally do you - no matter what, but I think the front is beautiful and has a lot of intricate detail ❤️ My dress front was very simple and clean and the back was the “wow factor” with a knot and long train. Keep in mind you will be holding a bouquet 💐 have your hair and makeup, which for me, dialed mine up a few notches! We support whatever you decide as you are the one wearing the dress, but for what it’s worth, I think your dress is anything from boring! Plus, I have seen overdone dresses where it seems the dress is wearing the bride, not the bride wearing a dress that extenuates her natural beauty (if that makes sense!). Let us know how the appointment goes and no matter what you decide, can’t wait to see your decision ❤️❤️❤️
