Never had breast acne until I picked a sweetheart neckline

lucky26, on April 30, 2015 at 1:10 AM Posted in Fitness and Health 0 21

I'm so confused as to why my body decides to betray me. Not only has my face been breaking out for over a month now.. my tits have decided to join in on the fun. I've always been so proud of my clear skin, now i'm at risk for scars!!!

I've been using washes and scrubs but I think its mostly hormonal...

Its hard not to stress when my dress is a sweetheart neckline Smiley sad am i the only one with a sudden burst of acne?

I've been getting break outs lately from stress (combo of work, masters degree and wedding planning). Don't use scrubs on breakouts, it irritates them.

I get stress breakouts for sure. I have noticed that when I clean up my diet (cut out sugars, increase the veggies, etc), my skin clears up. Diet and exercise can work wonders. Other than that, I just use an astringent to dry up black heads. You could try an acne cream for really bad ones. And I agree with above, over-treating can dry your skin out and actually make acne worse. Keep it simple.

I'm so strict with my skin regimen because I was prone to breaking out in my teen years. I only wash my body with dove liquid soap, not any scents, the sensitive skin one. When I do break out a lot on my chest I will also use neutrogena pink grapefruit body wash on affected(?) areas before washing the rest of my body with dove. I moisturize after showering with coconut oil for extra moisture but this is just for softer skin (FH loves it). For my face I use clean & clear exfoliating scrub and loreal glow renewal face oil (or the cream) because I'm prone to dry skin and I've also found clean and clean spot treatment is awesome for specific spots and AVOID SCARS!!!!

Good luck! Sorry for the long post! Don't use anything too strong or expensive, it's not needed and will hurt your skin!

I've also been breaking out on my chest and wondering what to do about it! I even thought about contacting my doctor to see what she suggests; definitely don't want this on the wedding day! I think it's probably from stress, but I don't see getting any less stressed between now and the wedding. I have prescription cream I use on my chin, and have started putting a light layer of that on my chest. I don't know if it's helping though Smiley sad

I don't have much advice, but commiseration, unfortunately.

It seems counterintuitive, but I get better results and better scar and dryness-free skin when I treat acne with tea tree oil. It dries up pimples without drying the skin around the pimple. The Body Shop has a tea tree oil skincare line, and I also use dabs of pure tea tree oil (sold whereever you buy vitamins).

Drink lots of water and reduce the sugar and dairy you eat. Dairy makes me break out big time!

I have bad bacne and chest acne, probably from working out. I change out of my workout clothes immediately after working out. I used to use the neutrogena grapefruit wash and it was okay but I would still have a few breakouts. Someone recently recommended that I use a bar soap made with activated charcoal on my face to help with my periodic breakouts. That worked so well that I tried it on my body and my skin has never been clearer. I use Lush's coalface but there are others out there that supposedly work just as well.

STOP USING SCRUBS IF YOU'RE WORRIED ABOUT SCARRING. Excuse my caps, but that is a no-no.

Use a wash with salicylic acid. and BE GENTLE!!!!

You can also treat with Tea Tree oil. I really like the Body Shop Tea Tree Oil line as well! It's a great anti-bacteria oil. However, if it's hormonal, unfortunately, these treatments won't to overly helpful.

If you can afford it, I highlyyyyyyyyyyyy recommend finding an esthetician and salon that has a salicyclic peel. I was suffering from hormonal acne since October and that did the trick for my face!

Yeah, sounds like stress. Try using baking soda: make a paste with water, baking soda, and grapefruit juice if you have it. I do this in the morning and my skin stays clear, smooth, and matte.

@OP, it sounds like your extra work outs could also be the culprit of the acne! Very important that you wash your sports bra frequently! You should

NEVER use fabric softener or a dryer sheet like Bounce on sports clothing! Fabric softener/bounce clog the "pores" of the fabric, and doesn't allow the fabric to breath properly.. therefore all your sweat and everything will build up, and can cause acne!

I agree with Tinybutfeisty, you can use the pink grapefruit bodywash from neutrogena, it smells nice and works. Or if you are getting really bad acne, you can buy bars of soap with silver in them.. silver has anti bacterial/microbial properties and helped clear up some annoying body acne that I've had in the past. Good Luck!

Oh also, I just noticed that you said your face was breaking out too... with the changing seasons, is it becoming more humid or dry where you live? try changing the humidity in your home, or moisturizing more (it always seems counter intuitive, but your face can produce more oil if its too dry, so you need to moisturize to stop it from over producing oil)

Someone told me it was the weather but i was like...i've never heard that before!! But someone else saying it..maybe?

I'm going home for the weekend and i'm going to go product free and see what happens. Also wont be working out. I never considered it could be my fabric softener. its just that nothing has changed that stands out as a trigger.

If not tea tree oil and charcoal are next on my shopping list. I swear 5 more red dots have popped up since I posted this!! Smiley sad

Go to the dermatologist!! I just was there today actually. All I said was I'm getting married and that's all it took haha. My skin is freaking out (I think its a combination of hormones and stress) and she prescribed topical medicine to use morning and night and wants to see me again in 6 weeks. You still have time to do something about it, and honestly I wouldn't risk it for my wedding day!!

Definitely try some of these things to treat it. If worse comes to worse, though, I have concealer with salicylic acid in it that helps cover and treat zits. Mine is from mark. but I think the Body Shop has one with tea tree oil that I've used before. Unfortunately, I had a low-necked dress and a chest zit on my wedding day, and nothing to treat it with (I was staying at my parents). I dabbed some concealer on that sucker before photos and you can't even see it. I think I was the only one that noticed.

DRINK MORE WATER! I'm someone who always has a few blackheads/small pimples but nothing crazy. I started a water challenge(you drink water until you want to puke basically). The first week I broke out like crazy, and after that my skin look 100x better than it ever did. That first week as everything is being flushed out your skin get worse, but my wrinkles/skin tone everything looks amazing. Everyone around me has noticed. Seriously even FH.

Try Neutrogena Body Wash! When I first got my Mirena IUD I started getting acne on my shoulders, which I had never had before. I started using that body wash and it completely cleared up within 2 weeks.

I swear by tea tree oil. I buy the 100% oil and when my chest starts getting pink and starts breaking out I take a qtip and lightly dip it in the tea tree oil and dab it on the zit spots. Sometimes it takes 2 days but they totally go away and my chest stays clear. Smiley smile
