Never have I ever... spent so much money!

Lynnie, on March 26, 2019 at 11:05 AM Posted in Planning 0 60

Have you ever shelled out this much money at one time before? 💰 Or does your wedding budget pale in comparison to your college tuition or a down payment on your house?

We are buying a house a month after the wedding so saving for our down payment on that plus paying for the wedding are pretty close price-wise. However, our parents are helping pay for the wedding whereas the house in all us so, personally, the house down payment is more than what we have had to spend ourselves toward the wedding.

I have spent this much money before! Thankfully, our parents are helping with the wedding costs, so it's not too much out of our own pocket. But last summer we bought a house and the down payment gave us serious sticker shock!

I’m not paying for my wedding, but I doubt my parents have paid this much money before. 😂
I’ve paid a lot in hospital bills, college, etc so I’m sure it all adds up to more than our wedding will cost.

Ironically we were engaged a month before closing on our house. We did not pay a down payment (FHA) and FH did not pay for my engagement ring (family heirloom)

After 3 years engaged we will be spending almost $40K on our wedding

After 3 years of living in our house we will have paid about $30K in mortgage and about $10K in repairs lol

I've only spent more than the wedding for college and our 2 vehicles; but thankfully I/we didn't need to pay it all by a certain time!

We plan to move after thr wedding so I'm sure there will be more money to spend. Hopefully not a down payment as we can go through the VA for our loan.

We are looking to buy a house right around the same time as the wedding too! Closing costs/down payment is very similar to the wedding cost!

Our wedding is costing about 2 years of tuition at the university I go to, but less than the down payment we made on our house.

When we bought our house last year! The down payment is almost 3 times more than the wedding budget.

Nope, never! Slap the word "wedding" onto something, and the price sky-rockets

Definitely not pouring out this much money for something very often, but the cost of our wedding is minuscule in comparison to college tuition (even with the use of loans for education).

We are getting married in May and are in the process of having a house built due to be ready in June. We lucked out that there is a USDA loan program for the area we are moving to so we did not have to save up a down payment. But paying for all our wedding stuff while still keeping all our finances in order between now and the time we close on the house has been a trick! But considering the total cost of a home, and the car I just paid off last year, our 'budget' wedding (if you can really call it that lol) still pales in comparison!

Ehhh, college is my largest overall expense but I'm not paying it out of pocket. I've had to take out loans for everything not covered by grants and scholarships. FH and I also bought a car outright a couple years ago that was only about $1k less than the total we're expecting to pay for this wedding, so that wins as the largest amount of money dropped in a day.

This is the most I've spent on one thing. I've spent less on the deposit for a house and I had a full ride to college. So by far this is the most I've ever spent. But I'm totally cool with that!

My wedding pails in comparison to the cost of my student loans for which I'll probably be paying off for the rest of my life. Also, pails in comparison to the cost of my car loans which I paid off like 2 years ago so YAY, ha!

I have never! Thank goodness for scholarships, but that also means this wedding costs more than my 4-year degree.
