never really worn heels!

Soon2BMrsB3, on March 10, 2016 at 4:52 AM Posted in Style and Décor 0 20

So I am getting married in November, and I really want to wear some heels. Since I'm not really a heel kinda girl (5ft 8) the highest I wore was heeled boots with 2 inch. I want to wear like a 6 inch heel because I love the style for the wedding...

Do I need to work my way up to that height of heel? I know this is a weird question...

thanks for the input...

Yes, you need to practice or you won't be able to walk which makes the whole entrance sketchy . Have you tried on the heels you want to wear? Are they stiletto?

Im at work using the computer here, otherwise I would post a picture. Stilettos? I'm not sure...?? I haven't bought them yet, I'm ordering them online. So I should buy a shorter heel to practice in or practice in the ones I will be wearing for the wedding?

It depends on the shoe. I don't wear them much anymore but wore heels daily from 19 to 28. I still couldn't walk in a 6" stiletto. It's a reference to the type of heel- sort of pointy and thin. I will also add that in my experience lower quality shoes will be less comfortable and harder to walk in. Do you plan on wearing them long? Because another thing to consider is dress length. If it's hemmed for a 6" heel and you take them off for any reason you are going to trip on your dress

If you haven't ever worn 6" heels I would try some on ASAP. Yes, you're going to need to practice to be able to walk in them, but if you don't wear heels I'd be worried about even being able to stand in them.

Even people who wear heels every day aren't likely to make it through a whole wedding in 6" heels without killing their feet, so like mentioned above, you need to think of what will happen when you want to take them off.

My foot is cramping just thinking about a 6 inch heel, and I was a ballet dancer who used to train en pointe every single day!

Definitely try on the heels you plan to wear before you purchase them (or make sure there's a good return policy if you're purchasing online). If they are not comfortable in any way when you try them on, look for a different pair. Also, make certain that the arch of the shoe matches the arch of your foot on both feet. This will prevent foot injury. All shoes need to be broken in before your wedding by walking around the house in them ahead of time. If you decide you really want to wear 6 inch heels, you will want to start training yourself to walk in them and breaking them in around the house. It may not be a bad idea to get used to wearing a smaller heel before you attempt practicing with your actual wedding shoes that have a 6 inch heel. Be careful, and good luck!

I'm sorry, but why would you ever want to wear a 6 inch heel? Do you realize how high that is? I didn't even know that was a style for a bride. 3 inch is pretty standard for a high heel and can make me very uncomfortable after a couple of hours. I can't see you walking very well in 6 inches even if you were seasoned in 3 inches. And your wedding day lasts 5 plus hours!! I went the opposite route and really scoured the net for a 2 or less inch heel that I liked do that I could be comfortable and walk without worries.

Ok maybe I over exaggerated the inches..so here is the picture of them..

Oh I don't or wont be wearing them the entire wedding. I just think their really pretty and I'll be making the attempt to wear them, even for a little while.

I appreciate everyone's input, I will start practicing in a lower heel and slowly get to these.

You definitely need practice, starting like now. Get some, and wear them around your house while you do chores and such. Then you'll see what it's like, and figure if you can pull it off for your big day. Good luck, and DON'T break a leg!

You definitely need to practice because I am a flat shoe wear and what those shoes the front of the shoe has a wedge and if you like flat shoes or if you only do 2 inch heels you definitely need to practice with those shoes

If you aren't going to wear them the entire time, keep in mind that your dress will be hemmed to your height plus the height of your heels. Taking them off will make you significantly shorter and your dress will be too long for your normal height. A good recommendation I've seen for this is for you to get a wedged flip flop that matches the height of your heels.

Practice now! Really though, I'd hesitate on wearing them. You can always bring them along to take a few photos with them on if you really love them. And like said above, you need to worry about the hem of your dress.

Start practicing now! I am not a heel person. I can not wear heels at all for long period of time. After a while I can't even walk without my feet hurting. You can maybe plan to wear them just for the ceremony and pictures then switch to flats for the reception.

I can't imagine walking in those but I usually don't wear heels. I would practice and make sure you bring an extra pair for later in the night. But seriously my feet hurt looking at those. #teampractical

I never wear heels, always a flat shoe gal, my feet hurt looking at those, yes they are gorgeous but I'm sorry I'm going for comfortable /cute for my wedding shoes. I'm 5'3 and my heel is only 2 inches maybe 3. I started slow wearing my heels to get used to them, wore them to my DOC appt got blisters but I'm good I wasn't stumbling in them.

Seriously, your wedding day is not the time to experiment with heels that high. Even if you practice. Keep in mind you'll be nervous. Unless you are someone who wears heels like that on a daily basis, don't do this.

Those shoes are pretty but they look more like a 4 inch heel. Are you sure they are 6 inches? Maybe the picture is just deceiving to me idk.

ETA: if they are in fact 4 inches, then you should be ok as long as you condition yourself over time and get used to wearing that height of heel. The good thing is there is a 1/2 inch platform on those shoes so it takes that much off of the arch your foot makes in the shoe.

Don't spend too much time practicing in smaller heels. It doesn't really work that way. It's not something you build up to. Just put on those shoes and practice, practice, practice. Not all shoes are created equal so it'd be silly to practice in a shoe that is not your wedding shoe.
