Never worn makeup

Johnnie, on January 6, 2020 at 11:12 AM Posted in Hair and Makeup 0 11
I’ve never worn makeup in my life and my hair has always been straight. Should I go all out for my wedding?

Do you want to go all out for your wedding? If so, you should. If not, don't feel like you have to. Aside from having my hair done (mine is always down and straight), I'm not "going all out" with a full-face of makeup when I only ever wear eye makeup. I want to look and feel like myself on my wedding day.

Maybe I’ll go with light makeup and just get my hair done. 😊

Great idea! Of course you want to feel pampered and "dolled up" on your big day, but no need to do so much that you don't feel like you anymore.

I will say this: don't buy into the "you'll looked washed out without getting your makeup done professionally" myth. I was super worried about this after reading it online so I decided to test the theory by doing my own regular makeup for my engagement photos. The photos turned out great and I looked/felt like myself!

    Best of luck!

Whatever you want to do! I recommend doing a trial if you get a hair stylist or makeup artist so you can see how it’ll look in advance and ask for any modifications if you aren’t totally happy with the look

I am not a make up person so on my wedding day I stayed true to myself and didn't wear make up

Honestly, if you've never worn makeup before, you may not want to do a full face of makeup, even if you're intending to "go all out". If you're not used to wearing makeup, you may end up feeling uncomfortable and that's not how a bride should feel on her wedding day!

Some lighter makeup might be a better option, just enough to look and feel "polished". Enough to cover any visible blemishes, define the eyes a little, and color the lips. I'd do a makeup trial (with a professional makeup artist), or make an appointment at a Sephora or Ulta, and see what you feel comfortable with. Good luck!

I honestly hadn’t thought of that! Don’t want to feel like I’m constantly worrying about my makeup!
