New Bride! In need of help 😀

Heather, on February 5, 2021 at 4:44 PM Posted in Planning 0 10
Hello everyone , I recently got engaged in October of 2020. I am beyond thrilled and nervous as the same time . I have no experiences with weddings at all and am planning this on my own .I am looking to get married on February 2 2022. I currently have a budget of 6,000 for my wedding , that budget includes , everything from wedding venue , Ceremony, reception , 7 day stay , and plane tickets . I was looking into a destination wedding at a all inclusive resort in Montego Bay or Negril Jamaica locations. Has anyone gotten married in Jamaica in the past that can share any advice or experiences. Needing a little guidance as to not to get to overwhelmed and enjoy this time as well , any assistance or advice or direction New Bride! In need of help 😀 1

is greatly appreciated 😀

Hi! Sadly no experience with destination weddings, but I will say if you're looking at more than a handful of people on a guest list $6000 won't be a large enough budget. If it's an elopement with just you and FH it's probably right on target though?

How many people were you hoping to have attend?

Okay! You can look at some all-inclusive resorts and see if they have elopement packages and I would start there, but some alternatives are Air BNBs for the ceremony and reception. You just have to figure out your own catering in that scenario. I think $6000 might be tight for everything you're wanting still. Your 7 night stay alone may end up in that range if you're doing an all inclusive stay.

Does that money also include your dress and photographer?

No experience there but we’re going to Jamaica to a Sandals resort which is all inclusive. We’re staying at Ochi for 7 days in a 1 bedroom honeymoon suite villa with a butler for $3500. I shopped around with the different airlines & purchased 2 round trip first class tickets for $2224- we leave Phoenix at 5am & land in Jamaica at 220 pm. I know they offer free weddings if you stay 3 days or more. $6k is very doable!

$6000 seems like a very tight budget, especially with it being a destination wedding. Speak to different resorts you're interested in and see what wedding options they offer.

I just went on the Sandals website - it’s an all inclusive resort (room, food, alcohol & some excursions). They have so many resorts to choose from! https://www.sandals.com/weddings/

We planned a wedding in Jamaica and there is no way $6K for 20 people would work. Ours was $22K for 45 guests. Our photographer and videographer alone was $3K for 8 hrs. We did no floral either which saved us $1K. I will say avoid Iberostar and do Sandals! Best wishes!!
