New Color Scheme

Lisa, on December 9, 2020 at 7:25 PM Posted in Planning 0 20

Now that we’ve postponed to 2021; I’m wanting to modify our color scheme to be darker, which was what I initially wanted but decided against it because our wedding was during the day.

For the reception, it is in a ball room that can really accommodate different styles and colors so I’m not worried about what we pick to clash.

I’m thinking I want all of our tables to have floor length deep teal overlays, antique chargers, and gold Chiavari chairs. Our centerpieces are going to be candle arrangements with Tiffany Blue stones at the bottom of the votive and either deep purple or maroon rose petals around them on the table. The table numbers are hand painted acrylic plaques, with the numbers in white and background Tiffany Blue.

My fiancé and I decided that we are only going to have one person stand with us so a best man and matron of honor.

My fiancé and best man will be in light grey suits, white button downs with Tiffany Blue colored ties.

I’m stuck on what color to have my matron of honor in… initially she was going to wear Hazelnut from Azazie because we were keeping the colors very neutral (greys, ivory, taupe, with just pops of Tiffany Blue.) I don’t want her to wear a Tiffany Blue color because it’s too bright for my taste but I’m not sure what other color to throw in there. Navy? Deep purple? Gold-ish? I’m so stumped…

I am planning on incorporating jewel tone flowers for bouquets, boutonnieres and corsages.

What do you suggest?

Do you not want her to wear grey? & what exactly is your color scheme, I couldn't tell from the post. I know grey & Tiffany blue, but what is the other color? You mentioned gold, teal, maroon, & dark purple so it's a little hard to tell lol

    I'm trying to change it...

Originally; greys, ivory, taupe, with just pops of Tiffany Blue.

Now; more jewel tones (teal, dark purple, etc.), with a pop of Tiffany Blue.

I really don't want the Tiffany Blue color in there or the grey suits but that is what FH wants...

Oh okay thanks for clarifying, I would have her wear dark purple and add more dark purple to the decorations or have your fiancé wear a dark purple tie. Otherwise it wouldn't really look coordinated

I agree with Yasmine. A dark purple dress would be very pretty. I would have the best man wear a tie and vest to match her. I would also include purple in your decor to tie it all together.

Teal, gold, Tiffany blue, maroon, deep purple, grey, jewel toned bouquet... Honestly, there is way too much going on here! If you want to do jewel tones, I would pick 2-3 colors and get rid of Tiffany blue since it isn’t a jewel tone. Once you narrow down colors, picking a BM dress color will be easier.

This is why I’m asking for advice. I can’t get rid of the Tiffany Blue. That’s the ties he’s wearing and won’t change his mind so I have to incorporate it somehow.

The guys will be wearing Tiffany Blue so it’s hard to lick something. FH won’t budge on it.

In that case, I would probably choose Tiffany blue, navy, and deep purple (Pinterest has some pretty photos of this combo!), and put your BM in deep purple 🙂. And maybe the guys in navy suits.

Lol! Can’t do navy suits. He wants light grey like his father wore. Really trying to make us both happy but seems like he’s winning this battle.

Gheez, he is picky lol. Maybe a dark grey? Either way, I would still choose those colors with BM in deep purple. Good luck!

I agree with Meghan. It sounds like you are trying to incorporate too many colors and like your fiance is very picky. Tiffany Blue really doesn't fit in with jewel tones so unfortunately I don't think there really is a good way to tie it in so one of you is going to have to compromise. Either ditch the Tiffany Blue and buy a different tie or forget about the jewel tones.

What about deep teal table cloths & Tiffany Blue napkins and scrap the other colors? With the gold charivari chairs? MOH in deep teal, guys in the grey & Tiffany Blue ties.

Personally, I told like gold and grey together. I am also not sure I'd like the gold with the Tiffany Blue. Is there a reason your fiance isn't willing to compromise? Marriage is all about compromise.

He has this tie from Tiffany’s that is their signature Tiffany Blue. From the start that’s what he wanted to wear. So who am I to say what he can wear? It’s one of my favorite colors but I just can’t seem to love a scheme that it works with it. Idk what colors to use.

It is your wedding so you should both have a say in the colors. Tiffany Blue is very bright so unless you want a very bright color for your wedding then it won't work. We had fire engine red for our wedding and I regret it. It was the color red my husband wanted. While we both wanted red, I would have preferred a darker red. In some photos, the dresses are so bright they look almost orange rather than red and I'm not a fan of orange. I personally like Tiffany Blue with a pale pink, but that's just my opinion. I also prefer silver with grey rather than gold.

We are doing jewel tones as well. Have you had a chance to look at Pinterest. We’re doing a more bohemian theme. What is your theme?

My fiancé wanted bright pink and navy so we compromised we’re doing his navy and little touches of pink here and their. (BTW I despise pink lol) the rest is up to me. Definitely make their wants feel Hurd and appreciated but this is a compromise like everything else In marriage and he has to give a little to to make you happy. I’m telling you my fiancé was dead set on pink. I just had to tell him yeah that’s not going to happen I love you but no. He said okay what do you want.

I found some pictures that might help convince your fiancé! I would tell him to pick the blue grey or black as a base color and then build off of that! If he wants the grey to a really light grey it would look great. New Color Scheme 1
    New Color Scheme 2

    Hi Laura,

Thank you for the photos and ideas. I've looked and showed (too many times to count) jewel tone inspo photos but he's not on board. He likes the deep teal color so I'm going to run with that before he changes his mind!
