New date... new decor??

Liz, on March 31, 2020 at 8:37 PM Posted in Style and Décor 0 20
So I finally decided to reschedule my wedding... as sad as I am it takes a lot of stress off of me and makes me excited to start planning again! The only thing now is that me and my mom already had most of my decorations out together for my May wedding, and now the wedding is going to be in September. I don’t really know if pastel colors will work in September, but I already spent so much time and money on what we have! What would you guysNew date... new decor?? 1

I think it’s just fine. Our wedding is in October and we are doing gray and lavender. I don’t think the colors are a seasonal thing.

If you have them, use them. Don’t let statistics dictate your wedding color/vibe/theme. My wedding is set for August (praying) and my color is a hunter green, which they say is perfect fall color. Green has always been my favorite color since I was a little girl, so I’m going with it!

Keep everything! 1. People understand 2. No one will pay attention to colors and seasons 3. You’ve spent so much money already. Save that money and put it into your honeymoon or your house Smiley smile

My wedding is scheduled for June and if we postpone until September, which is likely we will be using our existing decor. Too much money spent already. People will understand and it will be beautiful.

If those were the colors that you wanted and the decor you envisioned for your wedding, it doesn’t matter what month it is... keep it!

I definitely wouldn’t change anything because of a date change.

I think it’s perfectly fine! I find that May and September color palettes are exchangeable and pastels would look gorgeous for a September wedding.

Those are lovely. I’m not sure where you are from, but in the South it’s still very hot in September. Those colors still would work great.

If it's bothering you - I would pull the pale blue flowers off and replace the heads with another 'September' color. If you are late September you can tuck fall leaves in their place. That keeps your basic arrangement complete - and with one small tweak you are in fall.

    It's the pink/blue combo that's throwing you.

We were supposed to have a June wedding and postponed to December. We will be using our same decor but adding some darker elements. Consider maybe replacing some of the lighter flowers with darker ones, we are adding burgundy flowers into our Magnolia centerpieces. We are also using more gold than silver to warm the tone up a bit. It will be beautiful and really no one will notice!

Just adding gold or silver would make a big difference too. Smiley smile This is totally workable!

With everything you are already having to change/compromise, I just would not worry too much about decor. Maybe it's not traditional "fall" but I think spending time and energy on new decor just isn't worth it when you've already had to change the date and likely have some other things you'll be forced to adjust now anyway. I say do the things you have to do (like sending out Change the Dates or new invites, reordering anything customized with a date on it, etc) and skip the things that aren't necessary.

Also not sure if your venue is indoors or out, but inside there isn't much to indicate seasons anyway so you can really decorate however you want and not have to worry about it matching anything.

100 percent agree with this. OP, your centerpieces look great and will still look great in September. If you want a more “early Fall” look I think pulling either the pink or blue and replacing them with white flowers or more greenery would look great. I really like those lanterns!

I would say do whatever you want for your wedding! We are turning our New England woodsy backyard into a tropical paradise (FH is from islands and i used to live in the Keys)! Don't let season or location or anything change your dream and vision Smiley laugh Smiley heart
