New Date, Venue, Dress, Ring, Invitations...what else are you doing?

Mrs.a, on July 21, 2020 at 7:47 AM Posted in Planning 0 21

What are some things you’re doing amidst the changes of COVID to lift your spirits?

Since changing our plans due to Covid and what have you...I’ve gotten past the initial grief, and am looking forward to new plans, and just doing our wedding celebration better. Plus I get to marry my best friend twice!

We moved our October 3rd wedding and are eloping on October 2nd, and having a vow renewal & celebration on May 15th.

Here are photos from our new Ceremony Venue. Luckily we got a full refund in cancelling the Airbnb:

I decided on a new dress for our vow renewal after discussing with FH that fits our vision:

Wow, that ceremony venue is so pretty!! I love the theme you picked out, looks like the dress and rings and invitations all match the theme well! So far, what my fiance and I have done to lift our spirits during COVID is plan a really fun weekend away for our original date, and now I'm really looking forward to that day! I think once our original date passes, we'll look into things we can add for our new wedding date, but we haven't started on that yet.

Girl, yaaaasssss!! 👏🏻 I know all of us brides affected by this pandemic have had our moments of disappointment, frustration, and sadness. But, it’s all about picking yourself up and looking for the positives! We haven’t changed any of the major details of our wedding, except for the date. However, between now and our new date in November 2021, I am going to get my face lasered, get micro blading, and hopefully lose those extra pounds I’ve packed on!! Plus, I did a home quarantine haircut where I cut 5 inches off my hair, so luckily I will have time to grow it back out! LOL Plus, tons more time to save more money and add fun details we wouldn’t have had otherwise! my parents paid for my dress, and they are planning to pay for our reception. My hope is that during this additional year, we will be able to save enough money to surprise them by paying for everything ourselves! 🤞🏻🤞🏻
I commend you for finding so many positives during such a trying time! Your venue is gorgeous, and those invitations are freaking fabulous!! ✨🌙✨

Thank you lady! Yes, right there with you on working on myself. I’ve shed a few pounds already since I got serious about my diet and hope to lose 8-10 more pounds.

We have a budget for saving and spending...we are planning on paying for everything ourselves as well to treat our parents, families and friends. Smiley smile This will give us time to save a little bit more since obviously the elopement will cost us more and making some changes for our new date.

I LOVE the invitations...although we won’t be able to do the gold foil as shown because the set would cost over $700! We’ll be doing white and/or navy blue ink (White on the Navy card, and Navy on the Dusty Blue card) which will keep it more affordable.

Our wedding is a semi-destination wedding is our state, a couple hours away from where we live. So we're still going to visit the area on our original date for a long weekend. We were trying to find ways to support our vendors for that weekend, so we are buying a mini cake from our cake baker for me and my fiance to share, and our venue is a restaurant/brewery along with a wedding venue, so we're going to our venue's restaurant for lunch one of the days.

That's awesome! We're still hiring as many of our same vendors as we can for our elopement, so that way they're not at a complete loss and it will still feel like a wedding Smiley smile

Glad that you were able to hire your same vendors back for your elopement! I'm sure the vendors are happy to do both as well. I think it's neat that you get to celebrate twice, and based on the pictures you posted above, looks like both the elopement and the vow renewal will be beautiful!

It is quite dreamy Smiley smile We're mixing celestial elements with ferns and moss so it feels like a being outdoors under the night sky.

That's awesome you have some new things to look forward to as well! Do you have a theme or color scheme picked out?

Wow i love the venue and I'm glad you went with that dress! It just fits your vision so well. Due to our postponement we're able to afford a better and bigger venue that fits my dreams and also be able to offer better meal options and open bar Smiley smile

Thank you! It's a new wedding venue so they had just about every date available and the prices are just right!

Also it's absolutely gorgeous! I had been there before when it was under different ownership and wished I could have had a wedding there (they wouldn't allow weddings previously) and now it's like a dream come true!

We’ve been stuck on black, white, gold, and greenery for almost a year now. The venue we found in Chicago has silver chavari chairs so the gold was switched to silver. My fiancé loves the hints of dark hunter green in our theme so we’ll be including that in the bridesmaid dresses, centerpieces, and ties.

That’s awesome! It sounds very elegant. If I was basing it off of colors solely I would choose a hunter, forest or even emerald green! And make it an Art Deco theme Smiley smile

Absolutely. I think the dark forest/hunter green would be a good touch. And actually, I just got my save the dates in the mail and they’re black and white Art Deco themed.
