New England minimoon?

Mrs. DeNigris, on February 9, 2017 at 8:57 PM Posted in Honeymoon 1 24

Originally we weren't going to do anything right after the wedding because money will be a little tight and we won't have time to take off of school and work. But FH mentioned today that he wants to get a second job to put money away for a nice minimoon (he's the sweetest ever--love him).

I've done a few google searches but you ladies and gents never steer me the wrong way so I figured I'd ask!

Does anyone have any recommendations for a minimoon in New England? We are in western MA and are willing to travel up to two hours. Ideally we'd love to rent a cabin, but we're totally open to ideas!

:-)

A few years ago we found a great deal on Living Social (I think - or Groupon) to The Hermitage Club in Wilmington, VT, and I think they still do those deals. We had a wonderful long weekend there.

Bit more than 2 hours, but either the seacoast NH or up past the notch. We stayed at the Mountain View Grand in Whitefield, NH, for our minimoon by using a Groupon, so that could be an option for you Smiley smile

Were going on a mini moon in New England too! I'm sure this is further but we're going to Burlington/Stowe VT! It's right near Lake Champlain. So gorgeous there !

You could also do a Saratoga Springs, NY trip or Lake George.

I'm in Kennebunkport and I think it's about 3/3.5 to the NY line, so less depending on where you are. And it's always beautiful here that time of year!

Lake George, NY is really nice! I would check to see when most stuff closes for the season though! The adirondack mountains are also gorgeous in the fall!

I'm from the same area. What about heading to Montreal? Yeah not New England but pretty fun and a tad different...especially since after your it will be too cold for the cape and too warm for the slopes

Sorry to bump a dead thread, but I really need to say that most places in New England do NOT have snow in early October. That's a ridiculous statement.

Portsmouth, NH or Newburyport, MA are beautiful and have cute boutique downtown areas close to the water. Newport, RI is nautical, historic & offers lots to do any time of year. I would expect it to be the most expensive option, but it's my favorite!

October is super cold and snow in early October.. huh?! Hmm maybe cold at night I mean I can remember having to squeeze my winter coat under my power girl costume to go trick or treating but during the day it's beautiful classic New England fall... in terms of snow, very unlikely. Been to many a pumpkin patch in my day and maybe twice in 26 years was there snow ..

Not entirely sure how far from you, but Lake Winnipesaukee and Lake Winnisquam are in NH and are gorgeous places. Laconia and Meredith are two cute towns on those lakes. You could probably get great airbnb cabin deals, or stay at one of the marinas on the lakes.

Newport RI. Gorgeous town, with lots to do. Waterfront hotels, many inns, great restaurants, shopping, there's a winery...so much to do. It's considered off season in October so you should be able to get some great deals.
