New Hampshire Wedding

I am just curious my wedding venue is saying we have a 9% New Hampshire tax, that’s all it says but I know New Hampshire doesn’t charge for sales tax. Is this for the food and beverage ?

    Hi there Colleen Smiley smile

    Welcome to the WeddingWire community!

The New Hampshire Department of Revenue Administration does have an overview of taxes you can check out here which may offer some insights.

I would definitely recommend you reach out to your venue coordinator to discuss the tax and get clarification on what it is being charged on. If they don’t know the answer, I’m sure they can speak with their accounts department and advise!

I live in New Hampshire and we do have a meals and room tax. No sales tax on items you are purchasing in a store, etc.

Meals and rooms tax applies to hospitality type products and is applied for restaurants, hotels, and the like.

Meals, rooms, liquor served , and if you hire any " entertainment" . There are also fees for some things, like if you get permits for things like outdoor bonfires, parking for gatherings over a certain size ( if not on venue owned lot), someone to direct traffic sometimes .
