Hi everyone,

I just recently got engaged in November (Yay!) and my fiancé and I have been activally searching all around NJ for wedding venues. I am a teacher so my fiancé and I are looking to get married in August of 2019 preferably on a sunday night. However, we are trying to find that perfect wedding venue. Unfortunately, my mother is very opinionated about our venue shopping because she wants to make sure we get the best of the best for a great price & even better food. (Like everyone else feels!) However, she is paying for the wedding. So we are trying to find a venue that has a great menu and is a beautiful ballroom. So if anyone has any advice please drop a reply!

So far we have seen for 175 guest:

Park Chateau (way out of our price range)

Naninas in the park (they seemed a little too pushy)

The Gramercy at Lakeside Manor

Biagios & The Terrace ( seemed to nickel & dime)

The Tides Estate( Which we loved but we wanted to see more of a menu)

The Palace at Somerset Park

Any one whose been to a wedding in Nj please send advice!

We looked at venues in hudson valley, all over NJ and eastern PA and found that for what we pay for, PA had the best options. We were trying to stay around $130 per person inclusive of tax. Their tax is lower in PA and that made a huge difference in the long run. Maybe check out Shawnee Inn or Stroudsmoor. I was in a wedding at Perona Farms which was magnificent, but when we inquired for ourselves it was way over budget. I was also in a wedding at the Raritan Inn which is near Sparta in North/West NJ I believe and that was beautiful too but absolutely everything is BYO. One of my friends is having her wedding at The Old Mill outside of Philly and they’re inviting upwards of 250 people and said it was the most reasonable place they found! Maybe something to look into!

Have you looked at the Waterview/Riverview (2 separate buildings) in Belmar? We have had company parties there and I have been to two weddings at the Waterview (they are renovating this May) and both were beautiful!

Also the Mill in Spring lake is beautiful!

We booked with Mayfair Farms in West Orange for a Sunday Wedding. I felt the price was very reasonable compared to other venue's and we saw ALOT. The room on the first level is very large. I personally have never attended a wedding there, but everyone I tell that I am having my wedding there raves about the food. Also, I almost chose the Primavera Regency in Stirling, NJ. There menu was unbeatable for the great price. I knew a few couples that were married there and loved it. I never heard one bad thing about the food. The ballroom was recently renovated and looks gorgeous. The one and only thing that stopped me from booking there was the grounds. You would really have to stop at a park for photos and I didn't want to do that. The Mayfair Farms has beautiful grounds for photos. I visited the Westmont Country Club which was gorgeous and the menu sounded amazing, however they ended up being way out of budget which was not the information we were provided over the phone prior to the appointment. Good luck in your search!

One of my bridesmaids had her wedding at Nanina's and it was truly spectacular. The food was amazing and there was sooooo much of it. It's a pretty big place though, she had at least 250 guests. Not sure if it would feel kind of empty with 150-175. I haven't been to any of the other venues you listed.

We are having ours at the Olde Mill Inn in Basking Ridge. We are having about 175. They have a beautiful ballroom with an outdoor courtyard. I’m getting married on a Sunday also (much cheaper) and the food is great there.

Love that venue! Do you mind sharing their pricing for a Sunday? I'm thinking about reaching out to them, but they may be over my budget. Maybe a Sunday would be in range!

We looked at Naninas in the park as well since we went to a wedding there this past summer. The food was delicious we were just not crazy about the dance floor being on a different level than the tables. Have you looked at The Crystal Plaza or The Grove?

Clarks Landing! We are getting married their in September 8, 2019 (Sunday) the first time we met with them we were blown away with the staff, amount of food they offer and the centerpieces are included. Totally would not do fake flowers, but they are beautiful you cant even tell. They are located right on the bay so cocktail hour and the reception both look out over the water. You can get married their too! We booked them in august and they have answered every question I have had in the past few months. If you have any other questions dont hesitate to ask me!

The Tides is wonderful! I've also heard great things about Rock Island Lake Club.

Try The Valley Regency, huge ballroom. Great food, seems comparable with places you mentioned being good with pricing.

Another vote for Valley Regency. I also have had great food at the Meadowwood Manor and the Tides as well as Nanina's. I enjoyed the Greycliff too but very little grounds there. The Manor is classic and The Brownstone is great because they are good about working with your price.

Check out the GrayCliff. They have a beautiful ballroom. Unfortunately I don’t have over 120 guests so I can’t use that room. But the venue is beautiful. I’m also a teacher but getting married in September and on a Sunday. I must be crazy haha
