I kept my maiden name and added my husband name. I had a debate whether I wanted to keep my maiden name and adding his last name or just changing my last name. But at the end I didn’t wanted to drop my last name at all so I kept not only my last name but I added his last name. It worked out for me at the end and I loved it!!!!

I changed my name fully my first marriage. I got married the first time when I was 18 and we had two kids together. For this marriage I ended up using my name and hyphenating his. We've been married almost 3 years now and I finally stopped using the first part of my hyphenated name and am just going by Tara K. I have a hard time with change and it took that long to get used to having me associated with my husband's last name.

I literally slam dunked my maiden name immediately when I got married. I'm not hyper feminist sensitive about that type of thing as a woman's last name is always ever a man's name. Might as well be the LOYL.

Was literally glowing changing my name. My married last name also means farmer which is just earthy and perfect for me 😍🥰🥰🤩

I'm still going back and forth between hyphenating My Last Name-His Last Name or changing it completely. Growing up my mother had a hyphenated last name and she recently said she did it to keep a bit of her own identity before marriage although no one calls her by her maiden name and I didn't know her name was hyphenated growing up until I read her license lol.

Thanks for sharing the complications of the name change. I'm a bit nervous taking on a new lastname but I also look forward to being a new family and having a new life, as it were. So at the same time I am excited about it.

We're each keeping our own. They really don't sound good together hyphenated and I have a public profile with my job that means it's more convenient to keep my name.

I have been thinking about it too my future husband wants me to have so ive been thinking should I hyphen it or just change it. There are still 2 female 1 daughter and a granddaughter that still have my last name. So can just change it but when you been a this last name for so many years it could toy with you abit. Like Morris has been me for 49 years but when the day gets here mostly I will take his name because I also have things with Mrs. on it and I get excited about it. I will say think about and if you decided not talk to your FH about your decision bc it does affect him as well.

It appears you can have both. Even if you take on your spouse's last name, you probably are fine using, as one site said, either name as it appears on the marriage certificate. You might check within your public facing arena to make sure this is not a problem.

It took me a while to decide should I change or keep my last name and take his last name. I ended up keeping my maiden name and adding my husband’s last name with a hyphen.

I am soooo excited to change my last time! My mom is the only one with my last name that I know and she hyphenated hers when she remarried so we don't even have the same last name fully anymore! Plus his last name is shorter and further up in the alphabet which would be nice as well!
