Anyone else have or currently having problems learning to write their new last name? I am getting married in June and I started practicing today just for kicks and it’s a disaster! I keep writing my maiden name from muscle memory. Then when I do write his last name it never looks the same twice!

I thank my lucky starts for my name change every day. My signature is basically just a scribble; the only parts that are really visible as letters are the capital S of my first name and the B of my last name. Luckily my last name and his both have similar beginnings...so my signature won't need to change at all. I feel for you ladies that have to figure it out. That sounds so hard!

I got lucky and my signature is going to be about the same. Then again, my signature is only my initials (which people have called a doctor's signature before Smiley tongue) so it's just a slight change!

I've been doodling my first name with his last since I was 16 (I've now graduated 4-yr college), so it's not going to be too much of a challenge Smiley tongue

I’m a school psych and I hadn’t even thought to practice my new name until I read all this. We sign out names all the time! I don’t even know when it’s legal to sign my new name! Right after the ceremony or when all my paperwork gets changed?? Lol one more thing to think about!

You will sign your new name once it’s legally changed with the Social Security office and your school district Smiley smile

I recently realized I don't even remember how to write a capital "S" in cursive so glad I have awhile to practice 😂

If I think about it my new last name looks good. It's the same first three letters as my old name so if I don't think about it I end up writing my old last name. Yesterday we closed on our house and had to sign 100 things. I messed up on one signed my old last name and they had to reprint it so I could sign it again.

My last name is 10 letters. I'm 25 years in and it's still a hot mess, LOL! It's no wonder all 3 of my daughters opted to take their H's last name.

I'm going to have trouble with my signature for sure! Curerntly it's just a quick "BDM" because those are my initials, but now that my last name is changing, it will be "BB" and I don't know hwat I'm going to be doing with that!

I started trying as soon as I got engaged (June 2016) and it just didn’t really flow. Married 6 months now and I still sign how I always did lol.

I just sign my initials now, it's barely readable as it is. I'll probably stick with something similar once we get married. It's going to take me a good while to get used to it. I sign 20-50 papers a day at work and it's such muscle memory that I doubt it will be a easy habit to change.

YES! It's so difficult! (I'm also getting married in June 😊)
I have a rhythm to signing my name because my initials are AA. Now it's going to take another 30 years to perfect the rhythm of my new signature 😂

Will this is gonna b my 3rd name trying to sign. Cause in school when my Mom remarried she had me and my bro use our Step Dad's last name and for 6 years we sign will not always cause we was kids. But sometimes we had to sign with that last name. Then when I became an adult I was still using that last name and got in trouble came to find out that wasn't my legal last name. I just used it in school for protection from our birth Father not to find us. Anyway we had to go back to using our legal name which has 4 letters so easy and my legal name is Ward. My Step Dad's last name is Tomingo. And now my new last name will soon be Izquierdo and that one is hard. Also in spanish it means left. Now that will b hard trying to sign that one. I haven't even started. Took me about 2 years just to learn how to spell his last name. Been together for almost 8years. Now that I just got engaged in February I didn't think about practicing on trying to sign the name. I got 14 months before I'm married I have plenty of time.

Thank you! I’m getting married in June but I work 12 months so I will have meetings as soon as I come back from the honeymoon. It will be exciting to switch over!

This thread is hilarious because it's so real! I started doodling my new last name last year and realized my signature will never change haha. I sign my name probably 20 times a day, and right now it's basically the first letter of my first name squiggled into the last letter of my last name. Lucky for me my new last name has the same letter so I'm good hahahaha.

Side note, got a package today with my month-away new last name and was like "who?" 😂

Upper-case C's are so boring compared to script L's, lol.

My current signature is a big script J, script M, big script L then squiggles. My new signature will be the script J, script L, then C and squiggles. I don't know why but my C's just look weird and child-like, haha. I thought about actually spelling out my new last name, but my handwriting has gotten so awful over the past few years it would just be a disaster!
