New to the group - UK bride with Las Vegas wedding

LittleOne, on June 29, 2017 at 10:11 AM Posted in Planning 0 37

Hi everyone

Just wanted to introduce myself really! I live in the UK but am coming to Las Vegas next year (October 2018) to get married, yay!

We haven't booked anything yet because we're coming over in November to visit venues and put some deposits down.

There are a few favourites so far though so if anyone has experience of any of these that would be helpful.

Ceremony: likely to be the Caesars Palace Venus Garden. I really love the Wynn salons & garden but hate that you can't take your own photographer, even for a fee.

Reception: Maggiano's

Photography: Susie & Will (doing an engagement shoot with them in November)

Video: Imagine Studios or SK Media

Also looking like we will have a party bus to take guests off around the strip for 2 hours whilst we have our photos taken.

Also looking at Freed's for our cake.

Considering The Grove but we're undecided on going 'off strip'.

Look forward to planning on here!

Hi Little one, welcome!!! A vegas wedding sounds amazing. Would you be incorporating any uk traditions? I think you've done a lot of research which is perfect since you'll be very informed on your venue visit trip. Crossing my fingers they have your preferred dates available but if they don't plenty of people change their timing slightly to accommodate when their favorite venue is available. Happy planning!!

Thanks for such quick replies - I find when making any contact with the US I have to wait soooo long for a response.

Traditions wise probably not. We won't be doing things like a 'rehearsal dinner' (been learning what that is) or a bridal shower so I suppose it's still pretty British.

My dad will walk me down the aisle, but because we're only having around 20 guests I don't think I will have any bridesmaids or ushers.

I've done sooooo much research, I can't help myself I'm totally addicted. I've just seen a friend from school got married in Vegas last night and I'm desperate to see her photos!

Fortunately we're really flexible on dates, it can be any time in October.

    I really hope so.

We had originally booked a big traditional wedding over here but decided it wasn't 'us' so decided to run off to Vegas and do something intimate and fun.

Thanks for all your kind welcomes Smiley smile

Neither of us could cope if it was too hot, that's why both times we've been in November but there are school holidays in October we'd like to coincide with.

I actually have my dress. I know it's super early, but it was the only one the shop had (sample sale) and my previously planned wedding would have been sooner had we not changed plans.

Roughly once a week I take it out of the bag and stare lovingly at it. I absolutely cannot wait to wear it.

Hi! Welcome! I'm getting married in Vegas too! We're doing ours at the Aria. You should check them out too! They have tons of great packages.

If you're bringing your own photographer, etc. I would just check that the venues you've chosen allow you to do so. I know many of the venues we've looked at didn't permit it. Also many of the venues offer live streaming so your guests who can't make the trip still have an opportunity to watch the ceremony.

I absolutely love Vegas! We're planning a trip there this August to visit with some vendors. We're getting our cake at Las Vegas Custom Cakes. We looked at Buddy Valastro's (the cake boss) bakery, but it was just way too pricey for the size of cake you get. There's also tons of mobile hair and make studios there. However, depending on some of the packages these hotels offer, they often include a voucher for the hotel salon, so that's a plus! We're doing our reception at Fogo de Chao, a Brazilian steakhouse. Vegas has so many options.

Your wedding sounds like it'll be a blast. Happy planning!

    BTW, your dress is gorgeous!!

We're definitely open to other restaurants. Maggiano's was just looking strong as we had lots of recommendations for it and they seem well set up for receptions. Also they were bang on price-wise at the same time as still being on the strip ($90pp 3 courses and 4 hour open bar with toasting champagne & wine with dinner).

I'll have a look at the ones you've suggested, thanks Smiley smile

Brittney I missed your comment - we've double checked the photography situation at Caesars and have to pay $300 to bring our photographer which is fine by me because I'm very picky. I was so put off by any place that insists on using their photographer.

    Welcome! I love your dress!

I'm a native Las Vegan and getting married there almost 1 year prior to you. Your potential vendor list looks really solid. I've heard wonderful things about both the chapels at Caesars & Wynn. I've had a few friends get married at The Grove who liked it but I am a big supporter of getting married on the Strip if you're traveling all the way to Las Vegas. I'm actually getting my cake from Freed's too :-)

I agree that there are other amazing choices than Maggiano's, BUT for the price and how organized they are (I know they do receptions and big dinners nightly), I think it's a really great choice. Plus they have a killer view of the Strip. Doing a reception elsewhere will get extremely expensive really quick.

    Good luck!

Thanks Waren, that's really reassuring. We will visit these choices and others inNovember but these are our favourites on paper. Where are you getting married?

Yeah we did think if we're going all that way then why go off strip as we could have something similar at home.

I forgot to add that I'm probably having Francesca Lombardo @ Bobbie Pin Beauty for hair & makeup

@LittleOne we are getting married at Wedgewood @ Stallion Mountain. It's off the Strip about 5 miles and all inclusive. I would've preferred a Strip wedding but we have 200 people attending!
