(New York) October 2020 Brides — when will we say i do?

Melissa, on April 24, 2020 at 8:23 PM Posted in New York Planning 3 31

I am so upset, beyond words, and trying to think logically and clearly about how to proceed with my wedding.

Our date is October 18, 2020, in Westchester New York.
I don’t know whether to wait and see how things go, or the other option which would be to postpone and reschedule.
If I postpone and reschedule — I would choose a date in Spring / Summer 2021. It breaks my heart but i don’t want to be foolish and assume that by early months 2022 that all of this will have subsided.
There won’t be a vaccine by October 2020 - that we know. Until we get a vaccine...all of this is just elusive. So up in the air. Any other New York (NYC METROPOLITAN OCTOBER BRIDES?! — anyone going through the same? How are you holding up?)
Love and light to all.

My wedding is 3 months after you in NYC. I’m keeping my fingers crossed and moving forward as if nothing is going on. I think you should be fine. October isn’t a flu month and I believe the lockdown will be lifted late May, early June.

My date was April 17, definitely could not go through with it and with how things are I'm honestly very reluctant to deciding a new date 😔Also from NY.

Prayers to all NY brides up and downstate, and all of us that have to worry about this. I also struggle I am in Ohio one minute Im fine things have to he fine by then right? The next I want to post phone until spring of 2021. But in truth until a vaccine which is maybe late 2021 there are no guarantees it wont come back. Although they say it will he nothing like this. Just praying on it and hoping for the best.

Just pray for the best. I was supposed to get married this weekend, I postponed it to July, and now we just postponed it to October. I really pray that things are back to some type of normalcy by then. There's just so much going on in NY right now that we really have no idea. All we can do is see the change within the next couple of months and go from there. I hope it all works out for you though! One way or another you'll get married and it'll be perfect!

    Hi, and welcome!

I'm so sorry you're going through this.

It's really hard to figure out what October is going to look like. DH and I were just talking with some friends about NYC theatre and events. And we're thinking we *might* get some events back by the fall?

My city (Jersey City) is going to reopen parks for social distancing next week, so we might be looking at better numbers?

The best advice I have is to have a plan B, be flexible, and try to postpone decisions until you absolutely HAVE to make them.

Our date is also 10-18-20 and I'm from Albany, NY. We are going to wait another month or two before making a final decision. We decided if we have to change our date it will be October 2021, because we really want a fall wedding at our current venue. Many of our guests are from out of state so I'm getting concerned people won't make it if we have it this year. I also feel like we'll be rushed to finish planning if we don't postpone due to everything being closed. The pandemic is causing so many unexpected challenges Smiley sad

Our date is for October 16, 2020 here in Orange County, NY. As of right now we are moving along with plans. I think we are going to wait until its about time to send out invitations and we will either send out the official invitations or "change the dates". My venue is being fantastic about everything so far, my only worry is that if we wait too long to make a final decision, I'm terrified of all the 2021 dates filling up Smiley cry

I am getting married in New Rochelle. October 4th. We have about 175 people on our guest list. I live out of state but my family is all in NY and have remained positive about things so we are as well. Where in Westchester are you getting married?

Yeah I try not to read too many comments on here because truthfully nobody knows. We have some guests traveling from across the country and some with health risks. We are thinking they won’t come. We were originally getting married on a Saturday in July so this is our postponed date. We could only get a Sunday so we are anticipating some people not being able to come because of that as well. Glad you’re staying positive as well.

Almost date sisters! We’re 10/17 and in the Same boat. Our back up plan will be next October as well. We’re right out side Albany, but venue is in Warrensburg. Hoping they’re more relaxed then 🤞🏼 Where’s your venue?

We are getting married at the Boathouse Restaurant in Lake George, very close to Warrensburg! Are you getting married at the Lodge on Echo Lake? We looked at that venue and it was also very nice 😊
