New York Wedding July 2021

Do we think New York’s “dance zone” & 10 group cohorts rules will be dropped by summer?! Thoughts?! Thanks!

Unfortunately, it is really hard to say as no one knows what the future holds. I live in Maryland and I'm currently pregnant with my husband and I's first child and our OB told me back in January that she expects restrictions to remain in effect here through the summer if not longer. Obviously she can't predict the future, but that was her professional opinion.

I'm hoping! I'm in NYC too and we're in Sept. I'm hoping once the majority of people get vaccinated things will open up more. 🤞

It really depends on what the numbers do, and how many people NY can get vaccinated.

Biden is saying that he hopes people can gather in small groups by July 4, so .. we shall see. It's honestly too early to tell.

Not sure if this makes a difference in your situation or not, but from the way I interpreted the guidelines, they only apply to weddings with a guest list above the "social gathering limit." When the guidelines came out, the gathering limit was 50 people, but afterwards he announced that the gathering limit would increase to 100 people indoors and 200 people outdoors, starting March 22nd. So if your guest list is less than 100 indoors (which it might not be!), then you wouldn't have to follow the dancing, testing guidelines, etc.

Either way, I'll think restrictions will loosen even further by the summer!

Thanks so much, Eileen! That is a good point that my venue did not mention & I didn’t put together. Our guest list is right at 100.

I actually read this the same way! Would be curious to know whether you’ve talked to your venue about this and if so whether they agree. Our venue seems to believe we are subject to the dancing zones thing even though we have less than 200 and it’s all outdoors.

My venue isn’t judging - they said we have to follow the dance zone rules. We have to decide whether or not to have our July 3rd wedding in May 8th or postpone to 2022. 😔

    Budging*

    On May 8th*
We are likely postponing due to the 10 person cohort/dance zone rules.
