I just had to share that I am officially engaged! FH proposed to me on Saturday November 12th 🥹 FH and I knew we wanted to get married next year, and have been in the pre-planning stages of just talking about what we want for our wedding. We met with our priest yesterday and our wedding has been set for October 14, 2023! FH’s stepdad also booked our reception venue for us since we are having it at a Knights of Columbus center, and he’s a member there. We’re officially 11 months out as of today! The church and reception venue are booked, what should I be doing next?

Also, our reception venue handles catering so we are likely going to use their catering instead of hiring an outside caterer.

Budget and guest list should always be the first step even before selecting a venue. Next I would book the other major vendors like dj, photography, and videography (if you plan on having one). I would also start wedding dress shopping. Dresses can take months to come in then you also have to make sure you have enough time for alternations.

Thank you! We booked the reception because his parents are paying for that portion, and we discussed budget and guest list prior to the engagement. I should have mentioned that before in my original post lol

Congratulations on your engagement!! Cute picture! Now that you've got your venue booked, I would start looking for any other vendors that you'd want (photographer, DJ, florist, etc). WeddingWire and The Knot also both have a free wedding planning checklist that I recommend looking into, which will also help keep your planning on track. Happy wedding planning!
