Newlywed for how long?

Makayla, on May 8, 2016 at 7:38 PM Posted in Married Life 0 29

So recently I was at an event where the speaker asked if there were any newlyweds. This girl I know is like 26, married for 5 years with a 2 year old son stood up. Then a girl I didn't know stood up and told the speaker she had been married for 2 months. In my opinion the first girl standing up calling herself a newlywed just felt awkward. Anyways, how long are you considered a newlywed once married?

I've never thought about it but maybe like 6 months to a year ? 5 years definitely does not count as being a newlywed.

I usually think of newlyweds for 1 year.

I think anything under 2 years is cool to say "newly wed" beyond that you're married. Nothing more nothing less.

That's what I thought... The speaker kind of gave a confused look when she said 5 years lol

Once you hit your first anniversary I don't consider you a newlywed anymore.
