Love mine. I've had it a year. Bad bruising after it goes in Smiley sad but ok after a month haha

Had spotting on and off for about 4-5 months. Now I only have spotting every once in awhile. I didn't gain weight, and no bad acne! Phew.

I know it varies for everyone though. So your body may do something completely different!

Thanks! I heard from some people that they had their period for 2 months straight. That kind of scared me. I'm getting it placed tomorrow

I have had Nexplanon for a little over a year, I love the peace of mind that it gives me, and I had no weight gain, no skin issues, no cramping! My only complaint with it is that my period is super unreliable now. I may go two months without one, and then have one for 5 weeks at a time. But like FutermrsTW said, everyone reacts different, and good luck!

I have it and I love it! Weird bruise for about a week after it was put in, but no other issues since. I only have my period every few months and the peace of mind that I have with it is worth the little bruise!

ETA: I read reviews online about crazy long periods/ awful side effects with it and I just had to remind myself that most people who go online to write reviews are not happy customers. My doctor recommended that I only get it if I was willing to leave it in for at least a few months regardless of the side effects because it will take your body a little bit to adjust to it.

I use it and love it!

I get my period maybe once or twice a year for a few days.

There is some bruising in the beginning, but nothing terrible

Love mine! I had my period during the first three months, but it was mostly spotting. The spotting lasted much longer than my period before it, but now I get my period like once every 4 months.

I have had mine for a little over a year and I'm getting it removed. I have periods every other week and not just spotting full blown. I have also gained 20 pounds in the last 5 months and I live a pretty healthy lifestyle. Workout 5 days a week and eat generally healthy except for the occasional splurge. I have been told everyones body reacts differently but that is my experience and my best friend also got hers removed because of a similar experience.

I had implanon-similar. Period for months straight. Put a damper on relationship. Only lasted 11 months with it.

I have had mine in for 2 1/2 years and I'm not impressed Smiley sad I have been spotting the entire time. Now that I have insurance again I'm going to have it taken out. It has affected our sex life (It's hard to feel sexy when your spotting all the damn time) But I'm not pregnant...so that's good

Flipping love mine! I had a light period the first month after I had it put in and then never again, I hit the three year mark on Saturday and I am getting it taken out on Friday, I'll be sad to see it go, but FH and I are planning on starting a family shortly after the wedding and I don't see the point of putting in one to take it out in a year and a halfish. After we have kids I'm planning on going straight back on it Smiley smile

I've never been on this, but in general I've found that it's really hard to predict how I'll react to different hormonal BCs. Is it possible to wait until after your wedding so you don't have to deal with any unpleasant side effects?

I loved mine! Was on it for a little over two years. The first week it was in I felt a little sick (nausea, cramping, etc) and got a gnarly bruise from it but after that it was awesome! I had a normal period the first month I was on it and after that I didn't have any periods or spotting except for a little cramping for maybe 1-2 days a month. I gained a little weight but nothing major. I had it taken out in March because we were trying to get pregnant and my periods have been fairly regular since.... I missed one period but sadly it just skipped itself and it came back super strong the next month. I had to have mine dug out of my arm because my gyno couldnt get it out easily. So I've got a scar from it now, but I definitely still plan on going back on it after we have babies. Smiley smile

I need to try it , I been on the Nuva Ring almost a ring and had to take it out a week ago. It has me severely bruised and OMG don't mention the pain. My doctor only gave it to me to make my period come since my condition I only get periods once or twice a year. And honey when it do come I be on it for several months straight .

I love mine! FH calls it "that toothpick in your arm" haha!

My doctor recommended it instead of the pill since I suffer from migraines. I've had it for 4 years (now on my second one), and I'm really happy with it. But oh man... when I first got it put in, I was a raging bitch. That lasted for about a month, and it wasn't until after I calmed down that I realized that my hormones were just out of whack.

A good thing that happened, though, is that my period is completely gone. It disappeared pretty much immediately, no spotting or anything. But during the final 6 months of my last "toothpick," my period came back spottily for a few days at a time every other week. Freaking annoying. But now I know not to wait till the very end to get it swapped out, especially since it's now free (thanks, Obama!).

As a PP mentioned, removal was a bitch. I almost threw up half way through with all the digging and tugging. Ugh. I get shudders just thinking about it. Over the 3 years it was in there, it traveled about half a centimeter away from the scar where it was inserted and a little scar tissue grew around it. My doctor said that was normal, but I'd have two scars instead of one. The scars are tiny, so no big deal. Just prepare yourself for removal. Next time, I'm making sure FH comes with me and holds my hand.

Everyone reacts to it differently, you can't rely on the anecdotes of others. But here's my story anyway:

I had mine in for 10 months. I hated it. The insertion wasn't bad, and neither was taking it out. I have a small scar on my arm. I've heard that the removal is harder when you have it in longer though.

Pros: My period got a lot lighter, and I did not have as much cramps.

Cons: I had on and off spotting for about 3 months, with an actual period every 3 weeks during that time. My cycle never regulated, and I never knew when to expect my period. Sometimes I got it twice in a month, sometimes it skipped a month entirely. I gained 30 pounds in the time I had it in, all due to the hormones. I was unable to lose the weight no matter what I tried. My sex drive died. Completely. I had zero interest in sex, which was awful for my poor DH. Our first year of marriage, and I could not care less about sex.

I dealt with the spotting, but in the end, the weight gain and loss of sex drive was not worth it to me. What's the point of BC if I'm not having sex? Haha
