Where are my NYC Nigerian brides at?!

So I’m Nigerian and my fiancé is a Korean adoptee, raised by Caucasian parents. We are looking to incorporate elements of Nigerian and American culture into our wedding. However, I am having some difficulty finding good Nigerian vendors in NYC. Everything I find comes up in Maryland or DC. Anybody have any luck with caterers and DJ’s that can cook Naija food/play Nigerian music but also a good mix of American cuisine and music?

Hi there Uni!! While I didn't find any Nigerian caterers when I went searching through the WeddingWire vendor directory, I did find some caterers on Yelp! They're a little further out of the city proper, but they might be up to transporting. I even saw a food truck on the site with some good reviews, so if you haven't already looked through Yelp, I would suggest doing that.
As for DJs, I found Dj Tunez in Brooklyn! He's got a WeddingWire page with some solid reviews from newlyweds who booked his services, so I would definitely suggest looking there! Come back if you need any more help! Best of luck!

Thanks Maggie. I scoured yelp before posting and probably know the caterers you’re referring to. I also reached out to DJ Tunez on 10/28 but he never responded to me. Thanks for the suggestions anyway.

I recommend searching fb and ig. You can see lots through there and hopefully get “samples” through the screen.

I’ve actually had very little luck with finding Nigerian vendors in NY. I found a photographer named Nneka but she turned out not to be Nigerian, just had a Nigerian name. And also ended up flaking on my fiancé and I Please let me know if you have better luck.
