NJ Surprise 40th Birthday.. Paging @CELIA

LuvBeingMarried2Him!, on March 4, 2017 at 9:56 AM Posted in Community Conversations 0 11

Hi Everyone! I am looking into planning a surprise 40th birthday dinner for DH in June.

My family is in NYC.. his family is from the Poconos in Pennsylvania. I'm thinking somewhere in NJ would be middle ground for both families. I know NOTHING about NJ! If someone knows a great place in Pennsylvania .. I would even consider that too.

Can anyone recommend a great restaurant for a surprise 40th somewhere in the middle of NY and PA? Would like great food, nice ambiance and drinks. Somewhere I can decorate with nice balloons, birthday decor.. etc

I would think about 25 guests..

How much are you looking to spend per person?

There are soooooo many options. Do you have a type of cuisine in mind at all? (All the places I know are north jersey and closer to NYC, not sure if that'll work for you since poconos is not that close) but Liberty House in Jersey City, Son Cubano is good too

We considered this place for our rehearsal dinner...it's in Morristown. I believe it was BYOB when I requested more info about private parties. Delicious Italian food!

For some reason I can't cut and paste here....it's weird.

    anyway, here are some

Olde Mill Inn (my fave; ask for Marien or Lindsey) You'll be looking at the Grain House and they do have a private room that seats that many

Mohawk House in Sparta ; ask for Rachel

Stone House; I think it's Carina there now. They have a little private room, owned by the Liberty House people

    Rods, at the Madison Hotel

    Jockey Hollow, in Morristown

    Wine and Water in Watchung

    Gladstone Tavern in Gladstone

Barnyard and Carriage House in Totowa

Farmhouse at the Grand Colonial (it out on 78; shouldn't be too far from you. I think it's Ken there)

Ninety Acres at natirar, though I'm pretty sure it would be more, it's amazing

The Boathouse in (I think) Hopatcong

Greek? Try Cypress in Kinnelon, right off 23. The owner is Theo; we're doing a little wedding there next month, and their menu is fab!

Rails in towaco might cost you a little more pp but they have multiple levels great food drinks and cool vibe . There is A speakeasy in basement . Outside bar and live music . Private dining room that is library like definitely lots of options
