nj Wedding Venues $20-$22k?

Jamie , on January 7, 2019 at 5:55 PM Posted in New Jersey Planning 0 22
Hi all! I’m planning a formal wedding for the summer 2020 (on a Thursday) for 150 guests in New Jersey. My budget for the venue is $20k-$22k. I’m from Monmouth County and my SO is from Essex County. I’m open to venues in various regions of the state, but I’d prefer to travel no more than an hour to the venue. I visited the Park Chateau Estate and Gardens in East Brunswick last summer because it was one of the first places that grabbed my attention online and I was curious to experience it in person. I fell in love with the Park Chateau and have been comparing every venue since to the Park Chateau.

Although it is way above my budget, the venue has inspired my wishlist. My wishlist includes (but not limited to) bridal and groom suite, high quantity and quality of food, impeccable service, countless indoor/outdoor photo opportunities, separate indoor ceremony space in addition to reception space, one wedding a day/at a time, light and bright/neutral decor, high ceilings, and big windows for natural Iighting. The Mill Lakeside Manor (under renovations) is probably the only other venue that I have seen and considered besides the Park Chateau but it is also over budget.

I’m hoping someone can help to generate a list of venues within my budget and vision.

Thank you in advance!

Hey Jamie!! Welcome to the community! Have you taken a look at the WeddingWire vendor tab? It's a great place to find venues in your area and you can filter on venue style, amenities, guest list, and the availability for your wedding date. I did a quick search under the Mansion and Garden section as that may best describe some of the things you've listed and was able to find a few options!

Would you consider going over your budget or are you trying to find something similar within your price point?

Hi Jayla! Thanks for responding and providing the helpful info! I really want to stay within the $20k-$22k price range so it doesn’t throw off my overall budget too much. However, I’d be willing to stretch the budget a few thousand dollars extra for the right venue.

Thanks! Is there a way to filter for cost so that venues out of budget don’t end up on my result list?

We chose Battleground Country Club in Manalapan. I had never been there before and thought this place is so beautiful it has to be out of our budget and went in mentally telling myself not to fall for it but it was the most affordable place we looked at. It did have both bridal and groom suites and they are in the process of redoing them both from what I’ve been told.

    Hi Jamie,
we are getting married at the Bradford Estate which has a lot of the things that you mentioned, it’s somewhat south of you. We chose it because it has an amazing menu and a pretty garden. Our wedding is a little more than your budget but not a ton and it’s on a Saturday night. If you are looking for a Thursday wedding it might fit nicely in your budget. Also, the Bradford is a “sister venue” to the mill at lakeside manor but I think it’s a little cheaper. There is another one in the same group that you might also be interested in called Clark’s Landing but that’s the flagship one so I think it’s the most expensive.

Hi Amelia! I completely forgot that the Mill has another sister property besides Clark’s Landing. I absolutely love the menu at the Mill and Bradford has the same chef which is great! I looked up Bradford and I really like that it’s on 5 acres of land. I will reach out to them and schedule a site visit. Thank you!

    Hi Jamie,

I vistied the Park Chateau as well and fell in love, it was way above my budget as well. I recently visited The Palace at Somerset Park, they offer the Bridal Suite which is huge as well as a groom suite and all the other things that the Park Chateau offers for half the price. Prices start at $85 per person depending on the month, you check it out if you haven't already found a venue.

$85/pp? Really?! Wow that’s great! I will definitely do some more research on The Palace and possibly schedule a site visit. Thank you Tiffany!

Yes! I was shocked too because the place is amazing. We chose an April wedding which is $110/pp still not bad for what you get.

I also fell in love with the park chateau but it was beyond my budget. The also own nanina’s in the park which is a less expensive. I actually chose the mill at lakeside manor for my wedding next spring

So just a point about the Park Chateau: the venue is absolutely gorgeous and the food was good, but the acoustics in the reception room are awful. I went to a wedding there, and my in laws went to a different wedding there. The way the ceiling is vaulted, all the sound gets trapped in this dome at the top of the ceiling. It was almost impossible to hear speeches or the music. So that is just a point to consider, especially with how much money it costs.

We're getting married at the Sheraton in Eatontown. They've just redone the whole hotel and it looks fabulous and it's within your price range!

It’s disappointing to hear that there are poor acoustics at the Park Chateau but thank you for bringing it to my attention. I wonder if anything could be done to minimize the sound issues because the venue basically crosses off everything else on my list (except price).

I toured Nanina’s but it just wasn’t the right fit. I saw the Mill while it was under renovation and I was excited by what the salesperson was telling me about how the Mill would look. Congrats on choosing a venue!

Yeah, if you look at this picture I found online, you can see the way the ceiling is shaped in the area the chandelier is hanging from. FH and I were trying to figure it out at the wedding we were at, and we were pretty sure that the sound gets trapped at the top up there and doesn't distribute evenly around the whole room. I'm not sure if there is maybe another room (the venue is huge, and the cocktail hour room was gorgeous) that can be used instead or a way to set up the speakers to maybe bounce off somewhere else.

The thing is, I absolutely love the ceiling! I heard that vaulted ceilings and windows are bad for acoustics but I’ve always envisioned vaulted ceilings and windows at my dream venue. But obviously good sound is important. This is the only reception room at the property which I prefer to venues that have multiple ballrooms. I think I’ll talk to the Park Chateau staff and the DJ about better controlling the sound so that it doesn’t get stuck in the dome. I’m planning to visit again in the summer.
