Hi all! I’m planning a formal wedding for the summer 2020 (on a Thursday) for 150 guests in New Jersey. My budget for the venue is $20k-$22k. I’m from Monmouth County and my SO is from Essex County. I’m open to venues in various regions of the state, but I’d prefer to travel no more than an hour to the venue. I visited the Park Chateau Estate and Gardens in East Brunswick last summer because it was one of the first places that grabbed my attention online and I was curious to experience it in person. I fell in love with the Park Chateau and have been comparing every venue since to the Park Chateau.

Although it is way above my budget, the venue has inspired my wishlist. My wishlist includes (but not limited to) bridal and groom suite, high quantity and quality of food, impeccable service, countless indoor/outdoor photo opportunities, separate indoor ceremony space in addition to reception space, one wedding a day/at a time, light and bright/neutral decor, high ceilings, and big windows for natural Iighting. The Mill Lakeside Manor (under renovations) is probably the only other venue that I have seen and considered besides the Park Chateau but it is also over budget.

I’m hoping someone can help to generate a list of venues within my budget and vision.

Thank you in advance!

    Hi Jamie,

Although it may be a little farther in distance from you, I highly recommend looking at Waterloo Village in Stanhope, NJ. You mentioned your budget and the list of aspects you would like and I think they would be perfect. I will be getting married here in September and as soon as I saw the venue it checked off everything on my list and more. They have the most adorable bridal cottage, you can see pictures online. Although they do not have a groom suite, the entire bridal party is able to come 3 hours beforehand to the venue and they open the bar just to them so the men can hang out at the bar and just relax until photo time or the ceremony. Their food is the most discussed aspect of the venue because it is farm-to-table and all handmade (including cured meats, cheeses, breads, etc.) by Jeffrey A. Miller catering which encompasses only master chefs. Take it from me, the food is AMAZING. Our wedding tasting was four hours, yes you heard me correctly, four hours of appetizers, open bar, pre dinner courses, dinner, desserts of all kinds, an entire coffee bar, outdoor oven handmade pizzas, and smores. As for photo opportunities, they possibilities are endless. They have several options for ceremony locations indoors and outdoors including a secret garden, barns, historic gorgeous buildings, gazebo, chapel and more. Because the venue is a secluded park the natural backdrop and lighting is perfect for photos at any time of the year. Lots of windows, high ceilings, large stone fireplaces, wooden beams, and more. They have open houses all the time where you can walk around the property, meet the staff, see all the decor they offer that is completely included, and you can ask any questions you may have.
