nj weddings

Anyone in NJ understand what the current Covid rules are? I am aware theres a website that writes it all out but I am so confused on where it says outdoor ceremonies have no guest limit but receptions are limited to 25 people. Like...what?? Can someone explain how this makes sense because I’m lost? 😂

My husband is from New Jersey so that's where most of his family lives and they have mentioned that the governor has made some very strange rules. My guess is that with the ceremony guests can be more spread out and wear their masks the entire time, but that with receptions guests are more likely to be up and socializing. I would also guess that they are applying the indoor dining rooms to receptions. Also, some ceremonies tend to be religious based so they might be trying to avoid interfering with religion. I also see that dance floors aren't permitted if you weren't aware.

Right, that makes sense in theory but it just doesnt make sense when it comes to weddings because basically he is saying people can come for a ceremony then have to go home. I’m sure venues are finding ways around that though

Unfortunately, the think the best option is to only have 25 people. I don't really know of any other way besides telling the extra people they would have to go home. Otherwise the venues and the couple could risk getting fines.

Because ceremonies fall under religion/culture/customs, states have had to walk a fine line with 1st amendment rights (especially with the argument that if masses of people can protest, then they can attend a ceremony). Receptions are not ceremonies, they are the after party.
