No Bridal Bouquet

Angerra, on December 17, 2018 at 6:15 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 1 43
Hi All!

I'm getting married in August and am thinking about not carrying anything as I walk down the aisle. I'm not hard set on this decision; but it has come across my mind.

I love flowers, even though I'm allergic, and I have nothing against bouquets. However, I'm not sure about spending money on something that I don't plan on holding very long. My grandfather is walking me down the aisle so my hands won't be completely empty.

What are your thoughts? Has anyone done this or plan to?

Thanks!

    Hi Angerra.
I don’t think it’s a bad idea. I mean you hand the bouquet off to you moh when you are doing your vows anyway. My only thing would be what to do with my hand while I was walking down, but you’ll have your grandfather so I say go for it 🙂 I am getting a bouquet with my venue or I would definitely consider it.

I've been thinking about this lately too. We are on a very tight budget, and flowers are really expensive. And then they die.

I've already decided on DIY silk bouquets for my bridesmaids, and have found some really beautiful, inexpensive options. So, maybe I'll do that for my bouquet as well.

I attended a wedding where the bride walked down with a potted plant and they moved it to a bigger pot and planted it as their “union ceremony”. They’re a very eco-friendly couple so it fit their personalities

No one says you have carry a bouquet! I mean my mom carried a glass of alcohol down the aisle with her but then again her wedding was super informal! Lol

I don't see anything wrong with it. You can always use both hands to hold his arm. I am having mine handmade using vintage jewelry, family heirlooms etc so that I can keep it. It will most likely serve as my main centerpiece during the vows, reception etc. Actual floral bouquets, I'm not a fan of.

I'm also doing a brooch bouquet, making it myself but at least, it's something that I can keep forever.. Something similar to this.

I feel u on not spending alot on a bouquet so I ordered my flowers from amazon and will have my seamstress (she is etsy wrapped into one person) make my bouquet and it will not be costing me much at all. I also wanted a bouquet for sentimental reasons. We r keeping everything from our small intimate wedding to display in a cabinet in our living room.

I say do whatever you want to with or without a bouquet. I must say though that a lot of my favorite pictures from the day, do have my bouquet in them.... I think the flowers / color added a lot. I definitely didn't hold it long (mainly for pics and walking down the aisle - then i put it in a vase to decorate our sweetheart table).

I’m getting myself a sola wood flower bouquet. I plan on putting it in a pretty vase and turning into a centerpiece on my dining room table!

I think it sounds great. I was wanting to do just a single rose like this but my fiancé really wanted me to have a real bouquet.

Our flowers are sunflowers and roses. I thought about holding a single sunflower. I like the idea of a single flower

Do what makes you happy! My little nieces are walking me down the aisle and I’ll probably have small hoop bouquets made for them but I’m not sure I’m going to bother getting anything for myself since I’ll be holding their hands down the aisle. It seems like an unnecessary expense to have a bouquet made for myself just for photos.

I had such a hard time paying for our flowers but I fell in love with my bouquet as soon as I saw it. You have a lot of options out there but I think you will find your bouquet worth the money, even if you do something different for the rest of your party.

Have you considered faux flowers since you like them? You can find some reasonably priced ones on Etsy.
