Hi All!

I'm getting married in August and am thinking about not carrying anything as I walk down the aisle. I'm not hard set on this decision; but it has come across my mind.

I love flowers, even though I'm allergic, and I have nothing against bouquets. However, I'm not sure about spending money on something that I don't plan on holding very long. My grandfather is walking me down the aisle so my hands won't be completely empty.

What are your thoughts? Has anyone done this or plan to?

Thanks!

I carried a little sealskin pouch with beadwork, the size of a paperback. Some commented that they had thought it was a prayer ook, but in fact it had mementos of my deceased, much loved, grandfathers and one grandmother, and a few small things I treasure, sort of good luck charms with a personal meaning.

I’m trying to come up with something other than a bouquet for myself. I’m not big on flowers and I can’t justify the money on them.

The best part about getting married these days is that there are no rules! So if you don’t want to carry anything, then dont!

Honestly, I doubt many people will even notice. They’ll be looking at your face and dress and back to the groom to catch his reaction.

I have thought about pictures as well and if I would miss any without a bouquet. Thank you for sharing!
I'm just being difficult and don't want to have stuff just because tradition says I'm supposed to.

My mom said she'll make a faux flower arrangement for me and my bridesmaids if I want her to. I'm all for my bridesmaids having them but I'm not sure if I do. I may as well!

See that's what I like about the faux arrangements; you can actually keep them if you'd like! I'm sure you'll think of your wedding every time you eat at your dining table.

My first quote for the bouquet was $165 and I was in shock lol. Even though my mother is paying for it, I just can't.
I have a consultation with another florist next week for our centerpieces. So I maybe I can tell them my concerns and they can provide some suggestions to make my bouquet more affordable.

I have definitely considered faux flowers! My mom is really crafty and I'm sure they'll come out awesome with her help.

Thank you!! I want to say a little over a week because I kept running out of material. And also I kept adding material. I am not big on flowers at all and wanted something different. I watched a you tube video and I just tailored the bling bouquet to my style. I am wearing a fuschia wedding dress so I incorporated fuschia bling.

I think you should definitely hold something, whether it's artificial flowers or something similar. Our photographer took a few photos without the bouquets and the images look plain without them. The flowers added so much visual appeal to everyone's overall look. I highly recommend getting something!

My cousin did a brooch bouquet that turned out gorgeous. She had family members give her special pins and it came out gorgeous. If you go that route start working on it now if you plan to DIY since it took longer to make than anticipated. Also it was about 15 lbs.

I agree! None of my guests are going to remember what my bouquet looked like anyway.

I think it'll be best if I used faux flowers so I fan arrange the flowers how I want and maybe I'll be more excited about having one.

As of right now, it just seems like something I'm "supposed" to have.

Have you come up with any ideas for yourself?
