No bridal suite ???

Audrey, on March 3, 2020 at 7:55 PM Posted in Planning 0 24

Hello! So I am planning a destination wedding in Savannah, GA for 10/2/20 and we finalized our venue today (yay) but realized there is no bridal suite. It is at a hotel, so you're probably thinking no big deal! just get a room for the day before and day of.....except that would be over $1200 which we just don't have right now. So that leads me to my alternative, the wedding party and FH and I are staying at an airbnb the whole weekend and I was thinking the bridesmaids and I can get ready there BUT not everyone staying at the house will be in the bridal party (such as groomsmans significant others). Any suggestions on where to do hair/makeup/pictures without spending an arm and a leg or everyone seeing us before the wedding?? Thank you!!

We are already doing an airbnb with our wedding party, so you're suggesting getting another place just for the bridesmaids to get ready?

What about finding a cheaper hotel to rent for the day / night before which is nearby?

We could do the hotel that all our wedding guests are staying in but I'm not sure if that would be big enough for the bridesmaids, photographer, hair and makeup artists to fit in? We also really liked the idea of the wedding party staying in a giant house and getting to hang out and have fun the night before and after the wedding.

See if there’s another Airbnb or space you can rent for the day. I know Kansas City now has a few venues you can literally rent for you wedding party to get ready in.

Any cheaper hotel options? Or even rent a small meeting space at a hotel if that’s cheaper.

Well we went through tracy bisson website and she has different packages with the squares. It all goes by how many people you have. I forgot the exact number, but if it's over a certain number of people, you have to get a permit. We're only having less than 20 people so we don't need a permit for the square. You should check it out.

Have you looked at DayUse.com? They have places that will rent you a hotel just during the day, typically at a substantial discount over an overnight rental. That way, you could all sleep at the AirBnB, but have a smaller place to get ready during the day. I'm not sure what properties they have in your wedding area, but it might be worth a look.

Without knowing the layout of the house your Airbnb has, I'd suggest "separating" it.
Maybe you get the main floor and are able to access a bathroom, and everyone else has the upstairs, bathroom, and front exit access?
This plan would have worked in the only airbnb I've ever stayed in. And we did something very similar to this at my sorority house in college.

Maybe you could arrange for the groomsmen and significant others to go out to brunch for a few hours while you use the Airbnb for as your 'bridal suite' for getting ready?

Your hotel is $600 a night? They won't block rate for you?

So they offered a block rate for $450 a night but said we needed to guarantee 10 rooms will be booked or were charged for the remaining empty rooms and we probably on have 3 people that would actually pay that per night for the weekend 😕

That's outrageous! I would seriously contact the hotel manager and ask if they can give you a deal for just the one room considering they don't have a "bridal suite". That's not fun Smiley sad
