No Ceremony Decorations

Jennifer, on March 4, 2011 at 9:54 AM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 18

Okay other than my ladies bouquets I don't think we are going to have any decorations. We are getting married outside on a golf course.... do you think it will be to plain?

And if we need to add something what can we add for CHEAP?

This picture is one of my favorite "plain" inspirations. I think sometimes the environment and scenery should speak for itself. A golf course can be quite lovely without adding anything!

I wonder how much it would be to do something like this in fuchsia?

Absolutely! That would work, that view is breathtaking! I agree, I don't like the flower things either.

Well, that depends. I've seen freeze dried petals at reasonable prices online and silk ones are super affordable too. I've heard it's expensive to get the real ones in the quantities you need to do the whole aisle. Does the course have any rules about them?

Here's a link to another post about this. Someone posted a calculator to help you figure out how many you need.

You could buy flowers and just mark the edges of the aisle like this picture shows. Or just put the flower petals along the edges of the aisle instead of on the entire aisle, that might use less petals and cost less.

Jenifer you may need to check with the venue, they probably won't let you use silk petals because they aren't biodegradable, they may not allow petals at all because they are hard to clean up. Check with the venue before you make any decisions...

Jennifer we're getting married on a golf course too, but with all the beautiful views little decoration is needed. We'll put rose petals down the aisle and a few flowers in the arch, but like Konichiwa stated they must be real ones. I'm sure you won't need much either.

Do you have a FG? Just have her sprinkle some petals as she walks. If not, skip it, your venue doesn't need anything more than the chairs in my opinion. Maybe just the pew decorations on some of the the chairs (I wouldn't do every aisle, maybe skip every one or two) for a pop of color. I would try to put something at the front, just to anchor the space and give people a place to rest their eyes. Something smaller though and less obtrusive than those big flower things.

An arch is what I was thinking. Make sure there are no rules against staking it into the ground (because it's a golf course).

How about simple vases (you can get them from Dollar tree for $1 each if you buy a case of 12) with a few inexpensive flowers (like carnations or wildflowers) in them. You could even add some fuschia ribbon around them for color. You can also use mason jars if you wanted to hang them from the chairs like pew markers. The mason jars you might be able to get from friends and family or from 2nd hand stores. To save money you could only put them every other row.
