no confetti?!?!

Mary, on May 2, 2012 at 4:14 AM Posted in Planning 0 31

Hey ladies, so our wedding venue does not allow confetti, originally I was a little bit upset with that because of course, everyone wants that confetti moment.

I dont know any other ways to incorporate that confetti moment into the day wihthout looking silly. I guess the more i think about it its not that bad after all, I may not get that confetti moment, but at least would hope to get other ones :-)

I really don't like confetti personally plus it's bad for the environment. Our venue does not allow it or rice either but we weren't fussed. They recommended flower petals or bubbles. I was thinking about doing bubbles any way.

I just saw "Bridezilla" confetti freak out last night!! lol You can still have that "moment" without the mess....noise makers, ribbon shakers, bubbles.

We can't have confetti or bird seed or any of that either since our venue is a historical building. Sparklers are fantastic and look so pretty in pictures! If we have enough left in our budget that's what we're doing.

Hey Krista, the confetti moment is when you come out of the church and everyone shower’s you with confetti, and u get the picture with it falling all over you. Nice alternatives though i,m not a bubbles person the sparklers sound great in the evening, seen as it’s a November wedding. Why would rose petals be allowed instead of confetti?

What about having everyone hold a balloon and release them when you two come out of the church?

I don't recommend balloons. Those are really dangerous for the environment.

Sparklers may be a good idea, but make sure no one gets too close Smiley smile

@Carrie, LOL DS and I saw that also last night.

I bought confetti that is biodegradable so dissolves if it gets wet..but my chruch or reception venue didn't allow confetti or anything..so I was gonna do it in a field we went for for pictures but I forgot lol..Mary, are you allowed to have people throw confetti or rose petals or something when you come down the aisle as a married couple?

All the venues around here don't allow confetti. Rose petal would be allowed because they don't hurt the enviroment if they are real. You could also do the special rice that's safe for birds. I've been to a lot of weddings in the past couple years and the whole confetti/rice thing hasn't been at any of them. It's just not popular after finding out how bad it can be for our lovely earth.

Most venues/churches will not allow anything thats not bio-degradable. So no confetti, rice, balloons. Rose petals are messy as well. If you step on them they leave a stain on concrete and carpets.

The church where Cate is getting married allows nothing.

Heck, inside the church, she is not allowed a runner and rose petals(real or fake).

She isn't even allowed to have her decor fastened with pew clips. They ahve to be tied onto the pews. The best....after Mass, she is not allowed to have family pictures on the altar. This is the church where she received all of her sacraments. Her father and grandparents are still active in the parish community. It stinks.

    Wow Carole that's brutal!

No confetti moment for me, with the way our venue is set up it'd be confusing to attempt. Check t he bubbles, the residue can stain clothing. I like the ribbon idea, that's fun, or bird seed?

We went with applause. It worked just fine, and there was nothing to clean up afterward.
